We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

CSI NY is one of my favorites. And I really do not like the new shows that are replacing CSI NY. CBS has been my most watched station for several years now, but that is going to change as they drop show after show and replace them with garbage. Give us back our favorite shows.
Please keep all the CSI’s! Maybe expond on their private lives. Shows are too good to get rid of. You can kill all those stupid, mean shows like House, Big Bang Theory and that type (I am not sure what you show when you are not showing the CSI shows – that is how bad they are…not very memorable).
I love CSI Ny but the one for Wednesday should be the one droped.I think that they should really listen to the fans about the show and not drop it,and I also LOVE CSIon Sunday night I stop everything for this show.Keep them 2 and drop the 1st one is under rated.
Everyone, quit whining. All TV shows have to end sometime. In any case, CSI: NY will end this year without a doubt. CBS is ordering new drama pilots and they have to make room. Possibly both NY and Miami could end this spring. All I care is that the mothership is the last one standing. It deserves the well send off.
My wife and I have looked forward to Friday evening with two of the best shows on TV. We were very disappointed when we did not find CSI NY listed last week and could not find a listing again this week. We have thoroughly enjoyed every episode of CSI – great plots and superb acting. Please don’t deprive us of this decent entertainment. We can’t say enough good things about Blue Bloods, either. In addition to the outstanding acting and plots, we especially appreciate the underlying moral message every week.
I certainly hope that CSI:NY is not going to be cancelled! Of the three CSI shows, this one is my favorite. CSI lost me when William Peterson left. The chemistry was never the same. I never really clicked with CSI: Miami. Could never get into it. But CSI: NY…………. This show has heart, soul and sometimes pain. I thank all involved with this year’s season opener. The tribute at the Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance to honor the 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001 was both heartwrenching and a wonderful tribute to those we lost that day, their families and to… Read more »
ITA with everything you said. William Peterson was CSI, and with him, it was the only series with a sense of irony. As for Carrot Top, thumbs down. CSI NY is the only one left for me.
Please don’t cancel CSI NY!! Take off CSI Miami and put CSI NY in that slot. Or, as mentioned previously, get rid of Undercover Boss and put CSI NY back on Friday night!
Oh yes
CSI NY is great!! Please do NOT cancel this show. The Friday night line up was the best. Undercover Boss is YUK! CSI Miami should go first. It’s all about the “pretty people” and Horatio is so corny…………
CSI: New York has a different twist than the other CSI’s. CSI Miami needs to be redone. David Caruso plays any role the same.
Of the three, CSI:NY is the only one I will watch. That is after Fringe and Grimm. I’d whack Undercover Boss off the schedule.
PLEASE do not cancel any of the CSI’s. As one person commented, there is so much junk on tv, I look forward to all of the shows, and DVR them so I do not miss any.
I love CSI NY and so do many of my friends…….please, please do not cancel CSI NY.
The Friday night line up was perfect with 3 great shows in a row.
CBS to me has the best season ever this year but they need to stop moving shows around Leave well enought alone. They are really awesome this year!!!! And what happened to CSI NYC last Friday ( 2-17). I dont care the Undercover Boss take that show off didn’t wathc it the first time it was one. Pput CBS line up back the way it was Gifted Man, CSI :NY, Blue Bloods.
CBS is the only channel that has the shows I like dont screw it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cancel one of the best dramas on tv? No way. Instead, the networks need to get a life and dispose the trash that is replacing the great shows that are being canceled. I will be watching the reruns of the CSI shows before I will watch the trash being shown in the new shows. Immorality must be at the top of the list to become a hit show these days.
Amen!! Well said!
