This will be the first full season of Dallas without Larry Hagman’s JR Ewing. Can the cast and producers continue to draw viewers and solid ratings without their quintessential bad guy? Will the new Dallas be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned to find out.
Airing on Monday nights, Dallas continues to follow the machinations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Final season averages: 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.92 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Reference point: The second season of the new Dallas averaged a 0.8 demo rating and 2.67 million viewers.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Do you still like the Dallas series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
Update: TNT has cancelled Dallas after three seasons. Details here.
I like the show and would love to see it renewed (was fan of the original) – unfortuntately the ratings stink and won’t be surprised if the network decides to cancel it – which is too bad because their inconsistent scheduling of the show all over the map has contributed to it’s lack of stability. If for some reason there can be a season 4, put it back in the original season 1 format which was working (it can only survive as a summer show and can’t compete against the mainstream fall shows). Focus the show back on oil deals… Read more »
Please renew this show. Larry Hagman will always be JR but there is life after him. Let this show continue to prove this and Renew, Renew, Renew!!!!
I watched all 14 seasons of the original Dallas and it brought my grandmother and me together every Friday . When I heard Dallas was coming back to TV my heart was overjoyed. It bring my grandmother back to watch it with me from heaven every Monday . Please don’t cancel Dallas it keeps Mema with me!!!
I think the network has killed the series off. Just when you start to watch the show, get interested in the characters then its time to go for a break till August? Really? I don’t think there was any real intent on bringing back the show when you don’t give the viewers consistency to watch the show. Consistency keeps viewers.
There is a lot of truth in what folks have written on this blog…I guess we’re all still very passionate about “Dallas.” This is a long post and one I hope the executives at TNT read…first and foremost the show needs direction. I mean a 3-way…really…maybe on some two-bit FOX show, but Dallas…Both Leonard Katzman and Phillip Capice are turning in their graves. Wake-up Ms. Cidre or our show will fall victim to incompetency. The producers shouldn’t try so hard to make everyone hate Jon Ross, if he turns out like his daddy, we’ll all love to hate him. As… Read more »
I am 42 years old and grew up loving dallas as a kid and before the new dallas came out I was still watching the old dallas reruns over and over.JR was one of my heroes and even dead he still is.i was happily surprised when I was watching the show after JR had passed away and still loved it.not the same without JR but still an awesome show please don’t take dallas away from me.
Renew, Renew, Renew!!!
Please renew Dallas for a fourth season. It is the only show I look forward to watching on tv anymore and the only reason I still have cable hooked up in my home!
definitely renew for a fourth season. even without JR, the show was must see TV.
Definitely renew Dallas for a fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, etc season.Producer Cynthia Cidre needs to keep the old audience by bringing back a major character or two from the old show, every season; and to keep the new young audience by introducing a new young sexy character or two, every season.( are you listening Cindy?) That is the secret for the Dallas reboot. Bring back Priscilla Presley as Jenna Wade Ewing for the second half of season three. Don’t forget to bring along her husband Ray and son Lucas. Next year bring back James (either with Sasha Mitchell or… Read more »
Great post Ronald, I would like to see most of those things happen to. I am concerned that Cynthia Cidre is perhaps only considering the stories of the original Dallas from season 1 to about season 8 or 9. Cause I can’t believe that JR’s oldest son James hasn’t featured or been mentioned yet. I also think it’s crazy that Ray pops in every non and then but as far as i can recall, has never mentioned or discussed Jenna with Bobby. Are they still married???? And yes, has Lucy gone back to living the care-free rich social life where… Read more »
I think this is the best show on TV right now! Absolutely love it!
Dallas needs Dusty….also needs JRs other son…and and old coot to round it out !
Renew please!!
Renew, but fix the history lie. Digger was a drunk who gave away his claim. Nothing was “switched.” Cliff grew up delusional, obsessed and finally insanely evil. The Ewings aren’t the bad guys. Maybe Ramos switched his own deed and it backfired?
Please renew the new Dallas four season 4. No shows based in the south still in existence. Not to mention night time soaps. Love the show and would definitely like to see it be continued.
