It looks like the fight to save the Dallas TV show is over — at least for now. After TNT cancelled the revival series after three seasons, fans rallied to save Dallas and studio Warner Horizon worked to find a new home. The latter’s efforts have come up empty.
Executive producer Cynthia Cidre and director Michael Robin released a joint statement to DallasDecoder to share the bad news:
Hi Friends,
Well, we have come to the end. After a 6-week attempt to try and land our beloved “Dallas” at another network, we have to inform you that we have not succeeded. Warner Horizon has attempted, in a Herculean way, to try and find us a new home, but at the end of the day it did not work out.
We so appreciate the outpouring of support by all of you, and the #SaveDallas campaign was a truly remarkable undertaking. We cannot fully express how much we loved making this show for you and with you. We had 3 wonderful years together, and we had the times of our lives bringing this iconic show back to television. Thank you for your support; thank you for your loyalty to our wonderful characters; and thank you for watching our show.
We wish you all our very best, and thank you again for loving “Dallas.”
With great admiration and appreciation,
Cynthia Cidre and Michael Robin
The new Dallas ran for three seasons on TNT and ended with several cliffhangers. Hopefully, Cidre and Robin will share what they had in mind for season four at some point.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Dallas won’t be returning for a fourth season? Would you like to see the Ewings come back some day?
I won’t miss Dallas at all.
What a lousy rotten shame that these TV Executives(and you know they are all in their 20’s and 30’s) have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what a GOOD TV show is!!!! If it doesn’t involve CIA, FBI or some other idiot Government plot OR if it is not FUTURISTIC enough they CANCEL the show!!!! DALLAS was(and always will be) good old fashioned ENTERTAINMENT and I for one being in the 50 and over crowd(who KNOWS what a GOOD TV show is) am disgusted to see these idiot executives cancel a wonderful show as DALLAS!!!Here’s a thought—You want to live in the future?… Read more »
I am absolutely disgusted with this decision by TNT! Dallas was the ONLY thing I watched on that network. The airways are so full of these awful shows and then they cancel Dallas!??? I still hold out hope that another network will pick it up on their schedule.
We’re not done with Dallas, Ever! we’re not giving up on Dallas until there’s a Big Screen Movie version of Dallas which would start a trilogy for the continuing saga of the Ewing family if it makes good numbers at the Box-office.
I am very sadden to hear that Dallas was cancelled by TNT!! What an awful thing to do to the many thousands of fans out there!! I hope the producers can find another network for this wonderful show. Keep the faith, it could happen soon!!
I’m sorry Dallas fans. i’m affraid you’ll have to forget the whole thing.
turner sucks now. they renewed american dad and canceled dallas? this is why I never watch TNT or TBS anymore!
Very sorry to see this show cancelled. I wasn’t sure I would like a “reboot” of the classic show I grew up with, but I enjoyed it immensely. It was so much soapy, delicious fun I looked forward to it every week and never missed an episode. If Cynthia Cidre is reading: thanks for everything, and PLEASE give us a conclusion!!
Well TNT will get what it deserves….Dish Network is possibly dropping them due to contract issues. They need to feel what it’s like to get “cancelled”
Sad news for sure! This was a great remake with fresh and some old blood. I know if it could find a new home it would increase viewship. How about DirectTV or Netflix? I miss soapy dramas not many left.
This is the worst kind of disappointment that I can imagine. I have been counting the weeks until I thought the new season would start. This is a great show and whoever is pushing the cancellation wouldn’t know a great show if it knocked him in the head.( I said “him” because it has to be a man making this outrageous decision)
Guess I am just the wrong demographic … I loved the new Dallas as well as the old Dallas.
I think another good show canceled I think they should reconsider and put it in a different time slot and advertise it more people love to watch the drama unfold I know I do.
I am absolutely crushed the show isn’t returning. I can’t understand why a show this good would have been canceled. I watched back in the 70s-80s and loved it then. The newer one is every bit as good as the first one. Josh Henderson is an absolute doll.
TNT shot JR. 🙁
