It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
I never thought TNT would join the ranks of the prime time networks and cancel a show that is probably one of the best on TV! My comment is this: TNT cancels DALLAS and even thought I LOVE the other shows on TNT even if it means I will no longer see Major Crimes, Murder in the First or any other excellent shows—they cancel Dallas and I am DONE with TNT!!!! I do not care how much I like the shows I will NEVER watch TNT again if Dallas is cancelled!
i am very dissapointed dallas is not on anymore one of my best tv shows ever . please bring it back.
I am living in Ireland and i am so sad to hear that there will be no season 4 of dallas. There is 5 of us in our house and we never missed an episode. I hope that some other network will keep Dallas on our screens as people in Ireland love Dallas and the ewings, barnes saga.
Dallas is better than other shows aired by TNT like Falling Skies, Rizzoli and Isles, and Legend. Cable networks forget that viewers of shows like Dallas and Longmire consist of baby boomers, which is a large segment of the population with money to spend.
NEED ” Dallas “!!!!
Loyal viewers may come in great numbers, just
not the 18-49 demog. numbers. CBS has been called
the over 50 network, yet it is known as “the most-watched”
network. I am not surprised NTN cancelled ‘Dallas’ for
younger demog. This wonderful show and its viewers
deserved a fourth and final season. This show is/was
great. TNT could have moved Dallas to Fridays. I hope
another network picks up ‘Dallas’ or fans can at least get
a finale with closure. Hoping for the best. Will miss.
Spell check TNT
Ive just finished watching season 3 here in New Zealand and came online to see when S4 started only to read its been cancelled??!! NO you cant do that to us. Open new storylines and that’s it. unfair TNT. very unfair. as someone above said…at least give us some closure as they did with Nikita. Nothing wrong with over 49’s either (even though Im not quite there yet) thank you. what are you networks…ageist?
Come on TNT bring it back!! Awesome show! This is bull can’t just leave fans hanging like that. @charlene rizzoli and isles is an awesome too. A by the way TNT, people I over 49 watch tv too. We are the age group that watched the original Dallas way back!
Nooooooo! Please @tntdrama Don’t cancel #Perception too #SavePerception it needs season 4
Well, isn’t this a fine kettle of fish? You get a great show, something worth watching, and then they cancel it. I hope someone will pick it back up. I’m going to miss it!
Dallas should have gotten a 4th Season. FU TNT. TNT Does Not Know Drama! Linda Gray rocks!
should have really left Dallas, as it was here at the final DALLAS – Season 14 (1990-91) – THE FINAL SCENE , ALTHO with the films DALLAS THE REUNION , THE EARLY YEARS & JR RETURNS oh also the WAR of the EWING’S, the entire showing of DALLAS seasons from start to finish of the original WERE AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!! LOVED the 2012 NEXT DALLAS GENERATION , as DALLAS – Season 6 (1982-83) Clip (Miss Ellie Predicts The Future) ,,,,,,, been brilliant seeing the next generation , but if somehow or way that TNT knew what was going to HAPPEN, then… Read more »
TNT network should do two things one Do a 5wk eposiode are of Dallas of with six eposiodes total letting epoiosdes five and six be a two hour series finale just like CW network did Nikita for a proper series finale. Next idea, do what ABC network did after they cancelled Dynasty in 1989 knowing they was wrong to let Dynasty go with out giving them a chance to have a proper ending ABC made a wrong a right by allowing the cast and crew to come back together after being off the air for years and do a four… Read more »
Yes I will watch Dallas they need to put Dallas back on CBS where it belongs. It never should have been on TNT. So TNT cancels Dallas because of the ratings well there are so many shows that need to be canceled in my book TV is nothing but realty show anymore and they are nothing to me. You go and Take a good show like Dallas off the air because the ratings went down then you need to take all of the realty shows off because they are nothing. I look forward every Monday night to watch Dallas so… Read more »
until JR passed on the show was mostly a must watch. After he passed the writing became questionable; they relied on SueEllen falling back into her drunken ways, John Ross became more despicable than his father, the three way porno shocker at the end of Season 2, and then killing off Christopher, a MAIN character at the end of Season 3. Won’t miss this bad re-boot, I don’t think the age of the audience did it in, it was the piss poor writing. And that horrible disgusting Judith Light. The anti-moral of this show was evil does win out. And… Read more »
This is Bull Crap, Dallas is a fantastic show, another network needs to pick it up, Netflix or something, why show the season finale as good as that one was then end it, that’s crap!!! BRING DALLAS BACK!!!
The writer and producers need to sell this show to a network that will respect it more. I will watch it wherever it airs, if you can just get it out there!
