It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
I love Dallas! I am so disappointed in TNT. You should have at least gave it one more year to bring it all to an end. Very upset with the writers and TNT.
TNT is terrible at cancelling great programs; ex: Hawthorne! If you consistently create programming and don’t get results right away you get rid of them. that is why ratings suck, people are sick of it. The least you could have done is wrap it up some how at the end instead of waiting until after. Dallas is a great show and you need to continue it or maybe Netflix should pick it up. They seem to be “winning” in every way these days.
I can’t believe this.It doesn’t make any sense not to give it a chance. The young actor playing J.R’s son is excellent but you have to give him good writing so people will want more of this show.It is very good and I will miss it.
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your canceling DALLAS !! I never missed an episode of the old Dallas and couldn’t wait for the new one, now after just 3 seasons your canceling it. I wouldn’t worry about the age group. It’s my generation that spends the money on the advertisements not the young age group. As for me I’ve had it with TNT. If more felt like me the companies will start dropping you. So “good-bye” TNT. Also who decides what to keep and what to ditch the young age group? BRING DALLAS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally after so many years and they take Dallas off it sucks I’d watch it any time or channel
No way I’m done with TNT they talk about ratings how do they know I’ve never been asked how I rate a show ! Descrimanaton
I can’t believe it’s cancelled again! It has a great story line with great actors. You & your demographics! So what you are saying is that if we are over 49 yrs. old, we aren’t worth keeping a show on the air for. ISN’T THAT AGE DISCRIMINATION??? I thought that was against the law?? But, appartently, it doesn’t include Hollywood & money making. What a shame! And yes, of course I would watch it on another network. I watch Dallas, cause it’s well written, not because it’s on TNT. It could be on a children’s Cartoon Network, I’d still watch… Read more »
Loved this show and even with the loss of JR, I thought the writers did a great job making John Ross follow in his fathers footsteps. I am extremely disappointed that the show was cancelled. It seems that any show that has a plot and requires some thinking gets cancelled. The younger generation can’t appreciate a really great tv series unless it is either animated or has a laugh track to make them laugh. I would watch the show on any network that wants to take it.
What a bad decision on TNT’s part. Why not try a different day or different time? I love the show. Or at least give it one more season to wrap up the story lines. Now we will never know who died in the explosion. Bring it back or let it go to another network.
Please bring Dallas back. I watched the old Dallas and to see the new is GREAT. It has drama, intrigue and everything that a person can meld themselves into.
Dallas, Dallas, Dallas!!!
Bad decision Dallas is brilliant.
PLEASE DONT CANCELL DALLAS! I love that show…Someone do something!!
Wow!! I don’t understand how many viewers are expected to keep a show when there are soooooo many networks now with great programming and not just the big networks like years ago. Dallas is a great show!!! What a disappointment to cancel it- why not try different night or time. Everyone we know loves this show- BAD decision TNT 🙁
Please bring back Dallas.
I am very disappointed that there won’t be a 4th season of Dallas. When I was done watching an episode I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next. The cast was awesome and I hope TNT reconsiders or another channel picks up this show. I used to watch Dallas when it was on CBS. .
