It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
Such sad news! I am soooooo disappointed. There is little I find interesting on TV to invest my time to watch, but Dallas was a weekly MUST SEE for me. I eagerly looked forward to each segment. I loved seeing the beautiful people who played the characters, the actors, the gorgeous clothes and locations and cars and the story line. What was not to like about it? I especially enjoyed seeing my favorite Linda Gray/Sue Ellen; Judith Light played her evil role with such “coolness” that it was a fun to watch her. This is a “sucker punch” to the… Read more »
I think you guys are crazy what the hell this show is great! I hope another network pick them please do not let this be the end of Dallas!
Really sad to hear that Dallas is cancelled! The show was so good and I hate how everything will be left up in air! Hope they can find a new network and resume filming!
I love Dallas and I am very disappointed; I agree they only show a few shows and then it’s off for months and then you didn’t know when it was coming on again. Very poor advertising on TNT’s part. I only hope another station picks it up.
UNBELIEVEABLE TNT is cancelling Dallas. I so look forward to watching it every week. It is a exciting show that keeps you in suspense on what is going to happen next. I watched this show years ago and was so happy they brought it back. I hope another station picks the show up because I would wouldn’t miss it. Some of the shows they have on now are not worth anything, then Dallas a good show to watch and you all take it off.
Looked forward to watching every Monday night! Never missed an episode! Perhaps Monday night football interfered with the ratings!! Hope another station picks it up!
I loved Dallas. The mix of past and present was perfect for viewers such as myself that watched the original. Two issues I saw were the show should have been on another night (the original was on Friday ). Second , the way the episodes were split up was crazy! It should have been run continous weeks with an evolving storyline. That would have made viewers want to tune in to see what would happen next. Instead, storylines such as Bobby’s cancer were resolved in one episode. One show he had it, next he was cured. I hope someone picks… Read more »
You have absolutely got to be kidding me. I AND my friends are entrhalled with this show. All they need to do is a better job of letting people know that it is on the air. If I didn’t happen to watch another show on the chanel I never would have known that it was coming back on and I would have been ticked to miss it. I was thrilled that it came back and to see it was as well if not better written as before. You can’t leave it hanging 🙁 I believe I am done with TNT… Read more »
It’s a very sad day – the original Dallas was a jet setting night time television drama and was arguably one of the best television shows of all time. During a time when there are many night time television dramas, the new Dallas is a very good show in its own right, and certainly deserved a better fate. I would hope that another network picks Dallas up.
Can’t believe they are cancelling the best show on tv. What is wrong with you? I absolutely would watch it on any other channel. It was even a better series than the original and I never, ever thought I would say that. Such a great show that I looked forward to every week and now they are going to leaving hanging??? Please reconsider and leave it on the air. The cast and the acting is nothing but the best.
Hated that they canceled Dallas. I loved it.
Didn’t really watch it the first time around.
But I really liked this one I would for sure
Watch it on another channel. Bring Dallas back.
Thanks!!!!
The way that TNT treated Dallas and it’s fans is despicable. After the Grand finale of season 3 and the lead up to it, all that just to cancell it? The way they split the season up, and didn’t let the viewers know was a sure way of losing viewers. I am sure doing that is a big reason for them losing viewers… I had to search and search to find out when it was returning, the thing is, Dallas was the only reason I even watched TNT. #nodallasnotnt . In my view and many others, TNT didn’t deserve a… Read more »
I am sad to hear that the show has been canceled it’s the only reason I watch TNT I guess I have no reason for that channel anymore, I just hope they bring it back for another season I am really going to miss the show.
I loved the show. However, when you only show a few episodes every few months, no wonder the viewership was down. As soon as you got into the current season, it was over. Then, a few months down the road, it was back on. TNT made a huge mistake and I won’t be watching their shows in the future. Hope another network picks up Dallas. Loved it and hope this is not the end.
Very sad, I hope another network will pick them up
I’m sad knowing TNT has cancelled Dallas but not surprised.
Imo Cynthia Cidre was presenting a show that was Dallas in name only.
I’d love for this show to either be given a reprieve from TNT or find a home on another outlet. However I don’t believe Cynthia Cidre should be involved in any way, shape,or form!
Dallas needs a show runner who understands what the original was&build upon that foundation. CC wasn’t that person&cancellation is the result of that.

I love “Dallas” I will miss this show, and it would be great if another channel picks it up and keeps the story going. all of the actors are doing just a great job in their parts. Please find a way to let them continue the job they have started.
