Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
As a Uk viewer I find this cancellation appalling, just like the Blade series from SPike TV the TV companies build you up and hook you then forget to add somekind of finale to atleast wrap up a good honest program.I personally loved Day Break and many times did not see things coming around the corner,if ABC have any clue as to what viewers want then let them lease the series to another company to finish, obviously ABC must not care that there viewers will start turning off if they catch wind a series may not even make it to a 2nd… Read more »
DVD release of season one, please?
I loved this show, I don’t know where you get your ratings but clearly they are not accurate. You must bring back the show. It was refreshingly different. The premise did not come from some played out plot that we have seen thousands of times.
I am sick and tired of these people that you depend on to rate new shows letting good shows die. Give the rest of us a chance!
DayBreak was a great show. Very clever concept and excellent cliff-hanger story telling. Please bring the show back even if you have to bring it back on cable on the Sci-Fi channel. I really want to know who the mystery man (Jasper?) is at teh end of episode 13 and what his story is. We never got the plot payoff explanation of why his day was repeating, how it was repeating, who was causing it to repeat, etc. etc.
Really like Daybreak and would love to see it out on DVD!

This Show is Great, Bring it back! Big mistake by ending it. Lots of potential
Sucks begging ABC to bring back an amazing show… I’d rather another station pick it up. A station whose executives actually care about what the people want, perhaps? I’m probably asking for too much there.

bring back the show.
PLEASE BRING ON SEASON 2
Let’s save DAYBREAK!
I LOVE Day Break and want to watch the entire series again — even the commercials! Please release it on DVD or re-air during the summer. There’s nothing else as good as this show on television.
Too bad the ratings went down probably ABC strategy went haywire (showing new series in mid-season and viewers disoriented due to that. Its a brilliant show having excellant twists and plots. Taye Diggs was smart, writers and directors were brilliant with the show. Please bring it back, maybe consider reshowing it from the start to attract new viewers. Its a sure winner, ABC got nothing to lose.
PLs bring daybreak back on TV – This was an excellent show – the characters were really portrayed. It was suspensefull. BRING IT BACK!
Please bring back Day Break! This is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. It’s a shame that a show this good was cancelled too soon, it wasn’t even given a chance. There are so many bad shows out there that are suprisingly still on the air! I want to know what happens next, I’m hooked!
The online episodes are amazing! Bring it back and I’ll watch every single one!
