Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
Shame on ABC, I won’t waste my time watching any shows on ABC since I don’t want them to take it off once I’m hooked…BTW, ABC should really cancel Lost as it’s losing its edge…
Daybreak was truly an excellent show!!!
Thanks for posting on the Web, at least. Would love to see more of it.
This was a great show. I kept waiting for it to come back on…
how could they cancel Day Break? What an awesome show!
It’s another situation where the product was great, but they failed to promote/advertise it properly.
good product + good marketing + success.
They should fire all people in charge of promoting this show and give it another chance.
“Day Break” was one of the best shows on telly. You have cancelled that one and have kept on all those stupid reality shows. Now I have nothinbg to watch on prime time television. I don’t watch too much of anything because of the reality shows. They are terrible.
Taking quality TV programs off the air must be the goal of the networks… they give us a taste of an excellent drama (“Day Break”), then cancel it before the show has even had the chance to gain an audience! Keep the crappy reality shows and give us more of the true entertainment like Day Break!
Daybreak was a great show. ABC you really blew it when you let it go. please sell it to somebody with some brains, who is willing to air something that is not completely mainstream and will likely pick up a cult following.
What a SHAME that such a quality show was dropped because it never got a chance to get a foothold. I just watched the entire season on ABC.com and I cannot believe that with such an incredible cast with an even more riveting story line will not continue. ABC, you have lost a loyal viewer.
i loved this show.
I live in the UK and started watching daybreak through ShareTv.org – more addictive then prison break! – very intellignet plot lines without becoming corny – so very surprised and dissapointed to hear about the poor ratings? if it comes out on DVD I will definateley be buying it and both hope that they produce further seasons and also a legitamate way of viewing HD shows online from outside the USA, and at a reasonable price. ABC ignore the comments if you wish to lose lucrative future revenues – if so then I hope NBC/HBO gain at your loss because… Read more »
I was totally into daybreak! They are so many bad shows on TV, why couldn’t you just move it to less competative time slot! I hate when networks pull a show before it is down and disregrads the viewers that are into it.
I love Taye Diggs in this show! Don’t leave me hanging like reunion or the mole?
loved the show, please bring it back!!!
probly the best show, other than smallville.
Very good acting, storyline, action everything. They have to make another season and air it. Im sure the ratings will drastically increase from season 1 ratings, because this catastrophe of pulling it off the air sparked everyone to wanna watch it. So im sure lots of people will have an interest in watching season 2
PLEASE give us more DayBreak!
It was a GREAT show…we need more of these and less mind-numbing reality shows.
Bring back Day Break, the best show since Lost I think
