Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
I am a big fan of Day Break and would love a dvd release (possibly with extras.)
My wife & I were die-hard Day Break fans from episode #1. We were hooked and we were both very upset when we were informed that the show was cancelled. Initially we stopped watching all ABC programming in an act of protest, but we knew that wasn’t the answer either. Please make Day Break return in some form, so that the die-hard fans like my wife & I can see how the show concludes.
I am a Canadian viewer that was disappointed with ABC’s decision to pull the show. Great story, have finally seen the whole series. It would be nice to see the series continue however I have my doubts that it would be with ABC. Our family has made a conscious decision to avoid watching ABC programming since the series was pulled. No ad revenue for ABC from me.
WTF this show IS AWESOME!!! I was hooked from day one. Didn’t know there were so many others disappointed like myself. Just incase someone out the important to the shows survival or revival exists… 26yr old male (you hit the demographic I know you drool over) This was the first show I’ve been hooked on since seasons one and two of 24
Day Break was a fresh, clever, interesting show. It was extremely disappointing to see it canceled when there were so many trashy shows left running. I’d love to see the series revived. At the very least, I’d like it made available on dvd.
Cant believe ABC cancelled this series .. its one of the best series I’ve seen for a long time. I was unaware of the series till it was aired on Bravo.
This is one of the most well written series I’ve seen to date. I thoroughly enjoyed the 6 episodes and I am on edge waiting to see the remaining 7. Please bring the show back, or release it on DVD!!!!!
when I saw Taye on the “greys anatomy spinoff” I felt a confirmation that DAY BREAK would not be back. At least let us see the final episodes. Please!
What an excellent show. While I’m grateful ABC actually posted it all online, I think this show (and far too many worthy shows) died an untimely death. A DVD release would be great to see!
Great plot, great actors, great television. Shame, shame, shame on the execs that pulled the plug and choose instead to feed the public stupid shows like ex-Wives Club and the like.
maybe we should do something crazy..i dont know……like send a bunch of newspapers over and over to ABC’s studio to bring this back.
If people can save other shows like Jericho or whatever, maybe we can do the same???
Sell Daybreak to NBC there are many fans waiting to know what happens and why? This was a very good run!!!! Please bring it back!!!
I just stumbled on the show on ABC.COM recently and got totally hooked and I got three friends totally hooked. I can’t believe that it is going to be dropped. I love 24 but this is just as good.
How could you cancel Day Break just as the day ended? This show had limitless potential and you donkeys pulled it from the air!! Bring it back, give the people what they want.
PLEASE GIVE US A COMPLETE FOLLOW UP ON SEASON 1 FROM THE FANTASTIC SHOW DAYBREAK! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!
We don’t have that many good series in the Netherlands(Amsterdam), so we need it!!!
