Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
UK based viewer. Caught this show whilst in the USA on secondment and thought it was excellent. I am disappointed it is not airing, at least put the show out at an ungodly hour and let people tivo the show.
Please for the love of all things holy bring at least consider bringing back Day Break. I watched the entire series online and can’t get enough of it! As a side note the finale seemed a tad bit rushed.
Daybreak was one of the best tv shows on television. It was so exciting and finally something for change with drama, suspense, and mystery. I love the show. So, please come back with an second season. Thank you and screw lost it sucks. Lost have not solved any answers in 3 years and daybreak answered plenty in one season. So, come on bring the best show back which is daybreak and let lost go. It sucks!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you. Have a wonderful day.
I don’t know about bringing it back, because they wrapped it up better than any other show I can think of. But those 13 episodes definitely deserve to be seen. Bring on the DVD!
Please review your show cancellation policy. Cancelling shows like Day Break shows erroneous judgment.
Please return Day Break in another guise!
I live in Côte Saint-Luc, Québec, Canada, and I can’t watch the online episodes. I really miss Day Break, it’s definitely one of my favourite shows, so please bring it back, or make a DVD or something, for all the viewers who are mising out on this great show. Thanks
Please release Day Break on DVD and continue with 2 more 13-episode seasons. thanks whities
Daybreak is one of the most innovative cliffhangers since 24 .I was unable to watch it on wednesday due to work but i recorded it every week and would watch it on thursdays i think it’s a injustice to take a show off before it even leaves the ground if it’s relased on dvd i’ll definitely buy it. and that will be a first for me ,i’ve never purchased a weekly serires on dvd. thist show was just that good!!!!
Daybreak is a great show! It has been a long time since I was into a show like I was into daybreak. Go to another network, do something, but daybreak should have a 2nd season. All of the actors and actresses were awesome. thanks for making tv enjoyable again!
Fantastic show, Taye Diggs has done a great job. I am totally mythed as to why ‘Day Break’ has been pulled so early, if at all. Another time slot or another channel would be sufficient. There was absolutely no reason to pull the show completely and so soon. If ABC wanted away to reduce viewing figures, I think they just found it!!!
Please bring Day Break back!! My husband and I love this show…It kept you on your toes till the very end!!
Please bring back Day Break!!! I’ve been wondering what happened to it since December….I miss my favorite show. It never had a chance…it was yanked too quickly!!!
First I thought I would miss lost and Hate this new groundhog day. Next thing I knew, I was anticipating the next show and not caring when lost was coming back. I hope to see more of this series.
Please reconsider a 2nd series for Daybreak, or at the very least a DVD release.More people need to see this fantastic show.
Good quality, clever television, like good art even if fewer people watch it now it will stand the test of time. Bring it out on DVD and see.
