Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
I enjoyed and watched every episode of Daybreak on ABC until it was cancelled. My disappointment at this cancellation was such that I did not watch ABC during that time slot until Lost returned. So whatever ads were aired during that time slot did not get played in my house. I was very happy to see that the rest of the episodes became available online and I happily watched the commercials that were presented with each episode. I would support any future Daybreak or Taye Diggs projects.
Day Break is amazing it should have stayed on the air to finnish off the first season. I think that ABC should actually listen to the veiwers instead of the numbers not everyone can always see every episode sometimes people miss a show if you have a good product people love you don’t kill it off you find ways to advertise more or find other ways to let people know hey we’re not getting good ratings we need to boost them then people would maybe watch it on tv more than online or recorded. I think this show needs to… Read more »
I was saddened to find out Day Break had been cut. It was such a clever concept that should have been given more of a chance. If you don’t bring it back at least release it on DVD.
Bring it back NOW!!!!!!
Unbelievable… This was a show far more superior in my mind than Lost, 24, or like shows. I hope they at least get it out on DVD so that the viewers who spent their time watching this show get their ending.
what an awesome show !!
The scenario is full of intensity episode after episode ,the characters are excellent , it could became a new reference !
Please don’t stop it now ,
keep the show on air for us , and i hope a new season will come sooner ,
I don’t want this day to stop !!
Day Break was a great show. I hope to see a 2nd season. It was great that they wrapped up the first season with answers. Taye Diggs did a great job. I think a second season would have to be a Day Break based around a different character, different circumstances. How long could Hopper keep reliving the same day before finally just giving up. A second season could be based on so many different possabilities, for example, maybe an average guy trying to stop a plane crash or terrorist bombings. Maybe it could be based on a woman this time.… Read more »
Why not have a marathon when the summer repeats are on?
Day Break was possibly the best show I’ve ever seen, it was intellegent, superbly acted and written, and I really wish it could have been allowed to stay on TV longer, it was pulled too soon, had it been allowed to stay on-air for atleast two more episodes I’m positive it would have caught on and the ratings gone up, this show built and got better and better as it went on, so of course at first it wouldn’t seem to be a strong ratings grab, it would be great if you could atleast release the series on DVD, because… Read more »
I used to only watch ABC for LOST. Day Break gave me another reason to tune my TV to ABC, but now you (ABC) have taken Day Break away from me.
Please bring Day Break back!. Some have compared it to a variation of 24, as such, if it’s going to catch on with the public; it will take a while. Giving up after six episodes? C’mon! Take a chance ABC. Grow some friggin’ balls!!!
Daybreak is a great series and honestly has “24” potential. It might not have had a great start, but could be big. Please consider bringing it back.
BRING IT BACK! PLEASE
Its a good show and your your making a big mistake by taking it off air. Please bring it back.
In the words of Robin Thicke…Pleeeeeeease pleaaaaaase Pleeeeeeeeease, oh oh oh oh oooooo!! I need Day break break break break. Please bring back the show.
not releasing Day Break episodes in Canada (where i live) but making them available only to the US is not only ridiculous, but it also encourages the use of illegal sites and software to obtain the remaining episodes. Why not do everyone a favour and either release it to all countries, or release the complete series of this excellent show on DVD.
