Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
I was very dissapointed when I read that “Day Break” was being pulled from the scheduled. I really loved this show and followed ever episode. I can’t believe you gave up so quick!!
I really want this show to come back!!!
At this point all the episodes have finally appeared online and I did watch all of them. I hope for at least a DVD release, but seriously, with the rumors of Six Degrees getting a second season, why can’t Day Break (and The Nine) too? I understand about ratings, but Six Degrees’ ratings suck too.
Anyway, at least give us a DVD please.
Thanks.
DAY BREAK IS THE GREATEST SHOW EVER!!!! I JUST FINISHED THE LAST EPISODE!!! OMG this show should never have been canceled. I cannot believe ABC is so stupid.
LA, CA – More Day Break please.
Day Break Was An Incredible Show…. If it is at all possible for the show to be put back on air for a second season, it would be greatly appreciated. I for one sweart to be loyal… The saying it true you know… You dont really know what you have, until its gone… BRING DAY BREAK BACK!!!
Day Break was an excellent show. I beleive the ratings were not high because it did not get enough publicity and was not advertised enough. Some shows get so much press, but I don’t recall seeing or hearing much about Day Break. I’m not someone who watches a lot of tv, but this was the one show that I actually looked forward to seeing every week. I think it deserves another chance on the air!!
I just watched the whole series in 2 days of intense action packed episodes. How could anyone even think about taking this series down? I am a huge fan od DayBreak after those 2 days and if ABC can’t handle this show right, go ahead and sell it to another station or make a good use of the great storyline and actors!
I Loooooooooooooooove this SHOW! And the way the *ended* it SUCKED! Only ‘cuz one of the bad guys got away. Plllss…put the show back on!!!!! It ROCKS and it’s a show my whole family can watch….
Seriously…this show needs to be put back on!!!
PUT IT BACK OOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!
Please bring Daybreak back for Season 2. Give it one more chance!
I haven’t watched anything on ABC for a very very long time. I finally saw a promotion for daybreak and thought it was interesting. I saw the first episode and never stopped from there. I always looked forward to the next daybreak episodes. I agree with a lot of the comments that daybreak had a fresh idea. It was an intellegent show and me and my co-workers talked about each episode. When I saw the series finale, it felt incomplete at the end. I just wish they had more air time to explain a lot of the things in the… Read more »
Great show & acting. Continue series.
The show has a much smarter story line than many of the shows on television. I’m sure that if given the chance, Daybreak could have a substantial amount of sustainable viewership.
One of the best shows ever. Please bring it back.
I REALLY miss watching Daybreak, next to “24” it the best action/”mystery” show on the air!
PLEASE bring it back!
please bring it back! maybe a new slot time? awesome show with an even better script.
