The sixth and final season of the Downton Abbey TV show premieres on PBS Sunday, January 3rd, 2016, at 9:00pm ET/PT. In advance of the premiere, PBS MASTERPIECE! has released “Downton Abbey, the Final Season: Official Trailer.” Perhaps to brighten the spirits of fans who are not ready to say goodbye, PBS has also released clips of some of the funniest moments from the series, in a video called, “Downton Abbey, Final Season: For Your Amusement.” Watch them both right here.
We covered the decision to end Downton Abbey, back in March 2015. While the series was not cancelled, many of the stars’ contracts were set to expire, and reportedly, they felt ready to move on. The Downton Abbey cast includes: Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Michael Fox, Joanne Froggatt, Rob James-Collier, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Lesley Nicol, David Robb, Maggie Smith, and Penelope Wilton.
Across the pond, the regular season of Downton Abbey has already aired on ITV. All that is left for UK fans to enjoy is the Downton Abbey Christmas Special 2015, which will air in the US, in March, 2016, as the Downton Abbey TV series finale. If you are a U.S. Downton Abbey fan, are you frustrated that the show airs so much later, here? If you are a fan in UK, do you wish you still had season six ahead of you? Let us know in the comments.
