A comedy based on the Animal Media Group web series, the Downward Dog TV show centers on Nan (Tolman), and is narrated by her philosophically inclined and rather forlorn dog, Martin (voiced by Hodges).
Martin tells Nan’s story from the perspective of woman’s best friend. The comedy explores the ups and downs of modern-day human life, through the eyes of a devoted dog.
Nan is trying to negotiate a trying job, as well as her unfair, narcissistic boss, Kevin (Rothbart), while dealing with turmoil in her private life. Sometimes, the tumult distracts her from what Martin considers her priorities.
When he can’t have Nan’s undivided attention, Martin feels isolated and neglected and, as a result, acts out. Consequently, the two attend obedience school, which gives them a fresh perspective on the importance of their relationship.
Meanwhile, Nan is trying establish boundaries with her her ex-boyfriend Jason (Neff), while still retaining him as Martin’s dog walker. Rounding out Nan’s circle is her human best friend and co-worker, Jenn (Howell-Baptiste).

What do you think? Do you like the Downward Dog TV show? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Downward dog is one of the best shows ever. It’s like “The Office” except the star doesn’t have any problems- he’s a dog and acts like a dog while the people around him are always trying to act like something they are not and impress everyone. Downward dog doesn’t feel the need to impress anyone. He is so cool. I liked the episode that wad just on where the fancy guy gave him the fancy dog food and then he crapped all over fancy guy’s house. That’s what happens when you change the dog’s food all at once. Keep Downward… Read more »
I love this show so far, only watched 2 episodes. They just cancelled Imaginary Mary and 2 Broke Girls. Hope they’ve got the since to keep this one. I love animals, the cat reminds me of mine at times, great Dog, the boyfriend is not as smart as he it. So funny! There’s not many of the new shows I can get into. I also like Bull. Hopefully we get to at least have a chance to catch a couple seasons.
Worst show ever. I feel like scooping my brains out it is that boring.
My thoughts, exactly. I was hesitant to write what I thought of the show, because every time I say something negative about any show, I get bombarded with “thumbs downs”. Glad to see I wasn’t the only one that was brought down by Downward Dog. Sadly, my wife loves the show, so I have to suffer through it, as a labor of love…
I absolutely agree with Susan. Downward Dog is verrrrrry boring! I keep waiting in fevered anticipation for something exciting or funny to happen and sadly, it never does. Please cancel the show and put on something that is entertaining.
Fantastic first 2 episodes that every pet owner will adore.
Great to see a show that comes from a very different perspective.
And great to see the very talented and deliciously beautiful Allison Tolman gaining a lead role too.

KEEP THIS SHOW!!!!
I repeat, KEEP THIS SHOW!!!!
Devoted & invested in watching.
Love.
Smart and very funny.
I adore the way it is written, and all of the characters, and find it refreshing.
Anyone who doesn’t “Like” it… is just someone with a crappy attitude.
Cancel. Watched 5 minutes and was very bored! Turned back after ten minutes to give it a chance and still bored!
Please continue this charming program. Martin can stay with me anytime he’s feeling lonesome.
I loved it being a single person and having a dog! spot on!
Where are the laughs. Even Lassie and RinTinTin were funnier!
OMG loved this show! Martin is just lovely and Nan is just like any of us struggling in this complicated world. Please renu!
Should be canceled after one show. Only watched the first two minutes because the dog used the word “like” 15 times! Guess instead if a valley girl, it’s a valley boy. How insulting to dogs, which are better then that!
Get over it on the “like” stuff. Normally I do not like that, but with Martin it somehow fits his “personality” and it is hilarious.
CANCEL !!!!!!!! Painful to watch.
Please don’t watch it then. Many people do enjoy it.
This Is God Aw full Why Has This Not Been Cancelled Yet Nothing Was Funny The Acting Was Bad It Looked Like A Six Grader Wrote This Show
Dumbest and most boring storyline/ show ever. Should be cancelled b4 season 1 even ends. I watched the first 15 minutes b4 turning it off.
You made it 15 minutes? three times as long as I can stomach. The first two episodes are getting viewerships as low as The Real Oneals. Will last one season in dog years.
Amen!
“…in dog years.” See… now THAT’S funny!
CHARMING, quirky offbeat. Hope it’s renewed.
