TV show description:
A comedy based on the Animal Media Group web series, the Downward Dog TV show centers on Nan (Tolman), and is narrated by her philosophically inclined and rather forlorn dog, Martin (voiced by Hodges).
Martin tells Nan’s story from the perspective of woman’s best friend. The comedy explores the ups and downs of modern-day human life, through the eyes of a devoted dog.
Nan is trying to negotiate a trying job, as well as her unfair, narcissistic boss, Kevin (Rothbart), while dealing with turmoil in her private life. Sometimes, the tumult distracts her from what Martin considers her priorities.
When he can’t have Nan’s undivided attention, Martin feels isolated and neglected and, as a result, acts out. Consequently, the two attend obedience school, which gives them a fresh perspective on the importance of their relationship.
Meanwhile, Nan is trying establish boundaries with her her ex-boyfriend Jason (Neff), while still retaining him as Martin’s dog walker. Rounding out Nan’s circle is her human best friend and co-worker, Jenn (Howell-Baptiste).

To take a break from the pressures of a major decision at work and the mess she’s made of her life, Nan decides to take a vacation. On the way, she stops by her estranged father’s place in the country, hoping to say hi and go. Instead, she discovers he’s selling the family home. While Nan tries to pack up some childhood treasures, Dad takes Martin for a walk — but Martin, runs off into the woods, hoping to prove he’s wild and free like a wolf. Can’t believe this was canceled. One of the few shows in recent memory that showed heart and innovative construction. I truly hope it finds a home somewhere… Would love to see more
This was one of the most brilliant and refreshing shows i have seen. The monologue from Martin, his reflections the way Nan & Martin were intertwined, was exceptional. am disappointed beyond words that it was cancelled. It seems only the base & mediocre make it.
So disappointed the the show was cancelled it was one of the best shows that we as a family enjoyed siesta looked forward to watching it I hope that a network picks it up you should reconsider

cute idea, especially after “dogs purpose,” but in the show, they made him out to be a sarcastic and superior. I would have made him more innocent and adorable, because that is how I talk to my fur babies..

I love this show. I’ve watched most of the episodes 2-3 times and I’ve told several friends about it. It is FUNNY, touching, smart. Please renew it. It could take the place of so many other mediocre shows.

I love the show. Renew ,Renew,Renew and Renew. So much better than any reality tv show. You need a brain to enjoy it I quess. Animal Plant might pick it up. Animal Plant is for or was for shows about animals. Not really for tree house building or swimming pools for PEOPLE. I feel that is more HGTV market. Come on Animal Plant step up please! Or paw up some network please!

PLEASE renew Downward Dog!!! I loved the voice of Martin, and looked forward to the show every week. I’m so disappointed to see that it is cancelled. The show did not have enough time to develop its full potential. We need more animal shows on TV, and Martin was a refreshing start.
