A comedy based on the Animal Media Group web series, the Downward Dog TV show centers on Nan (Tolman), and is narrated by her philosophically inclined and rather forlorn dog, Martin (voiced by Hodges).
Martin tells Nan’s story from the perspective of woman’s best friend. The comedy explores the ups and downs of modern-day human life, through the eyes of a devoted dog.
Nan is trying to negotiate a trying job, as well as her unfair, narcissistic boss, Kevin (Rothbart), while dealing with turmoil in her private life. Sometimes, the tumult distracts her from what Martin considers her priorities.
When he can’t have Nan’s undivided attention, Martin feels isolated and neglected and, as a result, acts out. Consequently, the two attend obedience school, which gives them a fresh perspective on the importance of their relationship.
Meanwhile, Nan is trying establish boundaries with her her ex-boyfriend Jason (Neff), while still retaining him as Martin’s dog walker. Rounding out Nan’s circle is her human best friend and co-worker, Jenn (Howell-Baptiste).

What do you think? Do you like the Downward Dog TV show? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Admittedly, saw it for just the first time tonight – loved it! Great writing!
Definitely hope it’s picked up for another season. Looking forward to catching up on reruns.
Please please please renew this show. It is the most inventive new show in ages.
Please renew Downward Dog. Love Martin! Nan is fun and endearing and Martin is her perfect match. Please keep writing new episodes.
Love it!!
I love love love Downward Dog! So funny! So unusual! I look forward to it!
Downward Dog is my new favorite show. I love it!
excellent love this show
Martin is my new life coach. The writing isexcellent in this show. They actually get inside of a dog’s head and show the world from his point of view. Martin’s deadpan delivery kills. It captures the millennial lifestyle quite well. ABC did something right when they programmed this winner. I know it is a bit early to tell, but do I smell an Emmy nomination for best lead in a comedy for Martin?
Please, please, please don’t deny us of Martin and Nan! I love this show. It is so well written. I’m Nan’s age and an animal lover. These are my people
Please don’t cancel downward dog. I’ve fallen in love with these characters and love Martin telling the story. I most definitely need a season 2.
Give this show a shot. Surprisingly heartwarming and the cast is incredible
Love this sweet show! There’s nothing like it, and every episode makes me cry a little, laugh a little, and love my dogs a little more.
You need to give this show a chance. I had no idea it was even on until after 2 or 3 had already aired. I picked up the earlier ones with Dish On Demand. Martin is just awesome, his dog viewpoint and analysis of himself and the humans around him is hilarious.
I love this show!! In fact I hardly watch any TV, but I clear my schedule to watch this! I love how Martin thinks and think that the baseline of the story is great, especially because they rescued Martin from a shelter!
Please do not cancel this show, it is the BEST Show on tv , go to the Facebook page, Everyone LOVES this show & Martin!!!!!!!!!
I love this show! Martin is a joy and the cast is perfect as the backdrop to Martin’s dog perspective on life and his interactions with Nan. Sometimes I think my dog is trying to figure me out. I can see Shelby talking to a camera while using her dog experiences as a way to understand our relationship! I look forward to each episode and so does my husband!
