A comedy based on the Animal Media Group web series, the Downward Dog TV show centers on Nan (Tolman), and is narrated by her philosophically inclined and rather forlorn dog, Martin (voiced by Hodges).
Martin tells Nan’s story from the perspective of woman’s best friend. The comedy explores the ups and downs of modern-day human life, through the eyes of a devoted dog.
Nan is trying to negotiate a trying job, as well as her unfair, narcissistic boss, Kevin (Rothbart), while dealing with turmoil in her private life. Sometimes, the tumult distracts her from what Martin considers her priorities.
When he can’t have Nan’s undivided attention, Martin feels isolated and neglected and, as a result, acts out. Consequently, the two attend obedience school, which gives them a fresh perspective on the importance of their relationship.
Meanwhile, Nan is trying establish boundaries with her her ex-boyfriend Jason (Neff), while still retaining him as Martin’s dog walker. Rounding out Nan’s circle is her human best friend and co-worker, Jenn (Howell-Baptiste).

What do you think? Do you like the Downward Dog TV show? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
This show was amazing. Seeing life through the perspective of Martin was so creative. Some one needs to pick this show up. Each week this show brought laughter to a world that to often is chaotic and demoralizing. Bring Nan and Martin back, their relationship is so loving and healthy.
This show is too clever for the general sitcom audience, IMO. I’m so disappointed that it’s been cancelled. 🙁 🙁
I loved this show and am so disappointed it was cancelled. It was thoughtful and kind. Please someone, anyone, pick this show up.
The best show on network TV. Smart, funny, insightful. Unlike much of the crap on TV these days – too many reality shows or game shows. I hope another network picks up Downward Dog. Any dog lover would enjoy this show.
This show is the best new show in several years. Can not understand why they would not give it more time . Do hope another network will pick it up. Hope others will write in to try to save the show !!!!!
No oooo ! No cancel – this show is so with the current life-trend of Americans and so entertaining ! It’s the only show that’s gotten me to watch ABC since –
Desperate Housewives ! No cancel – I would buy 10 seasons on DVD.
No cancel.
No no no! I am just sick DD has been cancelled. Just watched the last episode an hour ago, the best one yet and had me in tears. People just don’t get it, this show had such meanings all about life to it. Finally just a nice feel good show we could just forget about our worries and cares. Please please bring it back to another network pick it up.
Some network PLEASE pick up the show!!! Where can we write to complain?
I don’t want this show to be canceled! And what will happen to Martin???
Downward Dog should have been renewed. They leave all the other shows that should have been put to sleep to live on and on.
So disappointed to hear that this show is being cancelled. Hope someone else will pick it up.
So disappointed to hear that this wonderful show is getting the axe. Really enjoyed it and hope someone else picks it up for another season.
Love this show. Must see TV for me.
I hope another network or streaming service pick up Downward Dog for a second session.
Just really so enjoyed Downward Dog. Someone please pick up the show. Soooo very very disappointed it is being cancelled.
I cannot understand why this clever, “I can relate to it”, adorable and well crafted show is being canceled. Are there that many viewers who just don’t “get it”? Maybe too smart for most of the population who would rather watch an idiotic competition show or moronic game show. Can I start a petition? Who do I call? Hope they reconsider.
