A comedy based on the Animal Media Group web series, the Downward Dog TV show centers on Nan (Tolman), and is narrated by her philosophically inclined and rather forlorn dog, Martin (voiced by Hodges).
Martin tells Nan’s story from the perspective of woman’s best friend. The comedy explores the ups and downs of modern-day human life, through the eyes of a devoted dog.
Nan is trying to negotiate a trying job, as well as her unfair, narcissistic boss, Kevin (Rothbart), while dealing with turmoil in her private life. Sometimes, the tumult distracts her from what Martin considers her priorities.
When he can’t have Nan’s undivided attention, Martin feels isolated and neglected and, as a result, acts out. Consequently, the two attend obedience school, which gives them a fresh perspective on the importance of their relationship.
Meanwhile, Nan is trying establish boundaries with her her ex-boyfriend Jason (Neff), while still retaining him as Martin’s dog walker. Rounding out Nan’s circle is her human best friend and co-worker, Jenn (Howell-Baptiste).

What do you think? Do you like the Downward Dog TV show? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?

Please somebody pick up this show…I don’t think it was well advertised.
I fell in love with Martin – such a unique show. Sincerely hope it will continue.
Please renew Downward Dog! It is a wonderful show!
Please renew this show as its great family viewing!
This is a great family show pleaserenew!
We LOVE this show. Creative, funny, and family friendly. All I have to do is hear that dog’s voice and I laugh. So much better than most of the crap out there these days.
I really love this show. Every time I watch it, I have a smile on my face the entire episode. I would love to see it find a new place to land. Please try!!
My family loves this show! So disappointed it’s been cancelled, but it seems like original & creative shows just don’t get a chance. It would be great if this was picked up by another network. A family show that my whole family loved to watch, but if it’s not a reality show or a game show networks don’t seem to care. A real shame!
I love this show! Clever script, great cast. A wonderful way to relax with the family, our own downward dog included. I, like other viewer/commenters, really hope this gem can find a new home!
Love this show and I hope some very smart TV Ex is wise enough to appreciate it’s potential.
Such a clever, unique and enjoyable show. I hope it finds a new home.
I, and many of my friends, love Downward Dog. We are so disappointed to hear it was cancelled. In a day and age when there is very little opportunity to view something as a family (for the most part) this program was very cute and as a dog lover, I just love Martin. Please bring it back!
Outrageous that such a great, non-violent adult show appealing to millions of dog lovers around the world would be cancelled after only 8 short episodes! Shame on you for not standing behind this novel show and giving it a real chance to gain some steam with audiences attracted by word of mouth. You have made a rash, disappointing and all and all wrong decision in letting this gem of a show and cast go. It’s no wonder network tv keeps losing ground while cable networks are over-powering you. On a personal note, I am suffering through some life-threatening issues and… Read more »
This is so disappointing! It is such a cute show. Why are all the nice non violent shows cancelled?? No wonder the world is in such turmoil. The only shows that make it are violent. We need more shows like Downward Dog.
Really annoyed that this cute show was summarily canceled w/o warning. DISH didn’t even know the finale was coming so didn’t record even tho I had set up “all episodes” One reason I almost never watch broadcast network shows. Too frequently are dropped before getting started.
Terribly disappointed to know that this show will not be given a second chance. I don’t watch much TV anymore, but this show captured my attention, with its meaningful messages & how it’s intertwined with what we always wonder: what are dogs really thinking? It is such fun to imagine the answer to this question (aside from what we know about canine body language & behaviour, based on science). As a therapy dog volunteer with an aging dog, I have laughed & cried, & really wish that someone out there would recognize the value in this show. Sign me: Sad… Read more »
