It seems that stakes and network executives can take a vampire down. NBC has cancelled the Dracula TV show after one season of 10 episodes.
NBC’s Dracula is a retelling of the classic Bram Stoker story. In London, Dracula (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is posing as an American entrepreneur while he seeks revenge on those who cursed him. He doesn’t count on falling in love with a woman (Jessica De Gouw) who looks just like his deceased wife. Others in the cast include Thomas Kretschmann, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Victoria Smurfit, Katie McGrath, and Nonso Anozie.
The show’s debut did respecatably for a Friday night show but dropped much lower in subsequent weeks. The first season averaged a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.25 million total viewers.
Hannibal and Dracula are both produced under a unique deal that costs the network much less than other original drama series. Hannibal’s license fee is set to go down for season three so the network ultimately decided to renew that show and cancel Dracula.
It seems like Dracula’s studios could still potentially produce a second season for another outlet but there hasn’t been any news of that thus far.
What do you think? Do you think Dracula should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you follow the series to another channel or pay to see a second season?
yes ill pay or do anything please bring it back
I think its bs
RENEWED ,, love this show
I loved Dracula!! It was an exhilarating show that kept us watching! NBC has mental issues for keep all these boring mundane shows that are easily predictable and canceling the ones that are actually intriguing. I say bring Dracula back! Same cast, possibly on a more reasonable station that will keep it going
really Dracula!! Again NBC try another time slot for the show! maybe some NBC exes need to be cancelled!!
I would support canceling the NBC execs. They have made so many mistakes in their programming. Makes one wonder if they know what they are doing. I don’t think they do. They cancel good shows and keep crap!
I love Dracula. It’s a great show! Please bring it back! I am having withdrawals! PLEASE!
Bring back on any station and I’ll be watching. Loved the show.
Please bring this show back I’ m just finding out about this show. It’s fantastic. Having come on Friday is a great idea. I wish Sci-fi could pick it up.
Should NOT have been cancelled. I loved this show and was not happy it was cancelled. I actually just watched the whole first season again this weekend as I own it on Amazon. It needed some tweaks here and there but overall one of the best shows on TV.
Bring it back.
Too bad it wasn’t on HBO or another reputable station. It isn’t a good idea to have a vested interest in an NBC show. The could care less about viewers.
Totally true. NBC Sucks.
I loved the twist on the classic Dracula story and I’m so disappointed NBC cancelled the show! I always thought the time slot was a poor choice. I’m in their target demographic and even I’m NOT home on Friday nights! Hope it gets picked up by cable or a network with a clue. Hannibal? No thanks!
Actually Hannibal is a fantastic show. Much to my surprise as I’m not a big horror type of fan. I love Vampire stories if done well. Hannibal , Dracula, Game of Thrones and Vikings were pretty much the only shows I ever watch. I get them all on Amazon. I don’t even watch my TV. It just sits there looking pretty.
please bring Dracula back I love this show!
I would follow this show anywhere it goes and/or pay to see it
Friday night might not be the best night for the target audience of 18-49. What do 18-49 year olds do on Friday night? Most go out with friends or family. Maybe Friday night isn’t the best night for it? I’ll watch it any night it’s on so bring it back!
Unbelievable! One of the best shows they have had and they do a dumb move and cancel it. Hannibal sucks and they kept that instead? Yes, I will follow Dracula to any network that picks up. Please someone pick it up! All of my friends in Houston and St. Louis feel the same!
I agree with you 100%. Don’t forget your Canadian cousins up north love this show too! Something to look forward to each week! Always happens- great shows get cancelled and the garbage stays on. Shame on you NBC.
