TV show description:
This horror/thriller series is a reimagining of the classic Dracula novel by Bram Stoker. It takes place in the late 19th century.
The mysterious Dracula (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) has arrived in London and is posing as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society.
He’s especially interested in the new technology of electricity, which promises to brighten the night — a useful concept for someone who must avoid sunlight. He is aided by his loyal confidant, R.M. Renfield (Nonso Anozie).
Dracula has another reason for his travels however. He hopes to take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier.
Everything seems to be going according to plan until he becomes infatuated with Mina Murray (Jessica De Gouw), a woman who appears to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.
Episode #10 — “Let There Be Light”
At long last, American entrepreneur Alexander Grayson executed a public demonstration of his miraculous electromagnetic resonator device, which promises to provide free, wireless electricity to all of London.
The demonstration was postponed after a previous attempt only a fortnight ago reportedly poisoned the surrounding neighborhood, causing children and elderly residents to become ill. Mr. Grayson insists that the poisoning was the result of sabotage, most likely by his rivals at the United Imperial Lubricant Company, although Scotland Yard has yet to find any evidence to support the claims.
This weekend’s demonstration, the second such attempt for Mr. Grayson, was to be his magnum opus, the result of years – possibly even decades – of research and construction that would revolutionize the world as we know it and put his oil industry rivals out of business entirely. What began as a day of triumph and victory ended as one of the most tragic and destructive days in London’s recent history.
At approximately 6:22 in the evening, moments after Grayson fired up his resonator to shed miraculous, wireless light on the entire district, the machine suffered a catastrophic malfunction. Grayson and his engineering team went to great lengths to evacuate the area as quickly as possible, and indeed the brave men spared many lives by doing so.
However, only five minutes after the machine was activated, a mechanical malfunction led to the largest manmade explosion in British history, centered directly in the heart of downtown London. The damage was catastrophic. At least a dozen people were killed in the explosion, and, while the numbers are still being tallied, estimates predict the number of injured persons to be in the hundreds, possibly even into the thousands.
Miraculously (and despite being in the belly of the beast itself during the explosion), Mr. Grayson managed to escape relatively unscathed, save for a few bumps and bruises. He is currently exiled in Carfax Manor and refusing to speak to the press, other than to briefly announce that he suspects foul play and sabotage to be the cause of the malfunction.
As London continues to recover from the horrific tragedy, hundreds remain missing. Most notably, Mr. Browning, a prominent member of British high society, has not been seen since the day of the explosion, despite the fact that Mr. Browning was not on site when the accident occurred. Miss Lady Jayne Wetherby is also unaccounted for, and she was last scene hailing a carriage toward the demonstration, only moments before the explosion. Also missing is Mr. Grayson’s right-hand man, Mr. Renfield, who was last seen returning to Carfax Manor on the day of the demonstration.

What do you think? Do you like the Dracula TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I love the twist this Dracula has, taking on the oil barons of the 19th century. I hope it gets renewed if not by NBC then any other network. I will watch!
please renew, i love this show! other very good shows are cancelled to my dismay and I love to watch this after Grimm!
This is a great show! I look forward to watching Grimm on Friday night followed by Dracula! The plot, the sub-plot(s), the intrigue…..you never know what will happen next! Keeps me on the edge of my seat! Very well written, cast, and acted…..love it!
On the other hand, I am sooooo sick of ‘reality’ TV……life IS reality! I want some entertainment to take me out of my reality when I sit down to relax in the evening.
Love this show. Wonderful visuals, acting, characterization, plot etc.
Needs to be renewed!
This show is a new and different take on an old bloodsucker, but, it is a gem to watch and well, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, how can you not Love him in anything he does and altho I miss the transylvanian accent known to Drac I just love this series, definitely worth another season please
Please renew Dracula for Friday nights. I think it deserves another chance.
Love this show!!! Please don’t cancel this awesome show. I can’t wait for another season of Dracula!
I know this show didn’t get high ratings, but neither did/do a lot of other NBC shows which got or get renewed regularly. To my knowledge,Community is not a big ratings blockbuster, but has loyal fans and it gets renewed always. The same can be said for Chuck. When it was on it never got big ratings, but had a loyal fan base that was very vocal about their love for the show. If Dracula fans could get organized and start pressuring the network the way Chuck fans did, maybe NBC would renew it. Also, even though there is a lot of sex and salaciousness… Read more »
Renew renew renew renew! Brilliant! It doesn’t get any better than this…a real gem!!!! Always leaves you wanting more! Every frame is a work of art!
The series Dracula was a must to see every Friday with my hubby through NBC. The whole atmosphere of action, revenge, and love involved in the story made us wait impatiently for the next episode. It should continue because it is a great story with great actors and fundamentally calls for people who loves to watch horror movies convert to also mystery, love, and revenge.
Love, Love, Love this show. Great spin on the Dracula story line. Very intense and easy to get caught up in the moment. Love all the passion and intrigue; which makes it ” A Don’t Miss Show”.
I, and many others I know, caught on a little late in the season; but instantly fell in Love. This show is a Winner… just needs to be given another shot to Catch-On. I bet after the first season goes to Netflix, more “Late Bloomers” (people like me) will watch it and want to see more!
I hope NBC gives it another shot!
I truly like this show … cast/casting, scripts/writing, attention to detail, costumes, sets, etc and re-invention of the origin/Van Helsing sub-plot, et al. I do hope it will be renewed for next year and more years to come. A treat for the eyes as well as the ear.
PLEASE !! Don’t cancel Dracula. One of the best shows I have watched on TV in I can’t remember when. I believe you would be doing your station a disservice.
It deserves a second season. It will develop like Buffy & Supernatural did. Give it another season.
Don’t watch a lot of tv, but it was one of those snowy days and I found it on demand…completely hooked…didn’t plan on being in front of the tv all day, but couldn’t stop watching until I had watched every episode. Sometimes you have to let things run a season or two to hook people in. It’s nicely written, good actors, like the story line twists that give it an originality apart from the original story. This is definately something I think that should be run for another season. I will be looking forward to tuning into some tv for… Read more »
