It seems Dorothy Gale will return to Kansas. NBC has cancelled the Emerald City TV show. There will be no season two. The fantasy drama starred Adria Arjona, Vincent D’Onofrio, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, and Joely Richardson.
As usual, it comes down to the ratings. The first season of Emerald City on NBC averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 demographic and an audience of 3.02 million viewers. When you compare its ratings to those of other NBC TV shows, the cancellation is understandable.
Emerald City Cancellation Confirmed
While we have been anticipating the Emerald City TV show cancellation for a while, Variety confirmed it, last night.
Emerald City‘s yellow brick road to the airwaves was riddled with potholes. Production on The Land of Oz-inspired drama was supposed to begin in 2014. Although the network planned for a 2015 premiere, creative differences derailed the project.
The Peacock Network eventually reversed that decision. In April 2015, they brought on a new showrunner. Still, it seems they didn’t have much faith in Emerald City, since they scheduled it on Friday nights, and held the premiere until January 2017.
What do you think? Were you a fan of the Emerald City TV series? Should NBC have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Let us know, below.
Please bring it back!!! I have been waiting for Season 2 to air. 🙁
Bring it back! Brilliant original TV!!!!
NBC ……..Just When I start to like something. Thanks So Much NBC. I have a very special place in heart just for you!!!!!!!
Bring it back! Give it a second chance 🙁 I didn’t know it existed until like 2 weeks ago! If it had better advertising and time slot, it could do better! Like; Once Upon A Time.
Oh poor me! I’ve been waiting for Season 2. Plz take it back to me NBC.
Second Season is a must! great tv show, I really love it!
This was a hidden gem! However, it never really got a chance: poor advertising, poor time slot, and poor midseason placement. I believe more people are finding this show after the fact and seeing how amazing it is. I loved the intricate twists and details on an old classic. I really hope the cancellation gets reversed or another network gives it the attention it deserved!
what are you playing at NBC?
FOX did the same with firefly and look what happened there.
how about putting it on air during the week instead of a friday night when every one is out enjoying themselves after working all week.
I had NO idea that this AMAZING show existed until the first two episodes just silently popped up on my cable box. WHY???? Why didn’t they put more effort into advertising?! If I had known of it’s existence, then I would have watched it sooner!
I love it , NBC dont take it away from me and the fans from all over the world. Giv it back, fix it You have meny ***** show so way take away one that are so good Giv me my show back now and the rest of the fans please
Great serie. Had hoped for a second season
The show was awesome. Didn’t catch it live but could not stop bing watching the first season. Was looking forward to a second season.
This show was fantastic and deserves a second season, if you actually give it a fighting chance and move it to a different day it will most likely flourish.
My family really enjoyed this show. I am truly disappointed with this decision, NBC.
I totally enjoyed this show and I am just flabbergasted that NBC has cancelled it. There is so much more that can be done with this show. Please reconsider or let someone else have it for the fans sake!!!
