What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, Emerald City is the tale of a young woman named Dorothy Gale (Adria Arjona). She finds her true strength and identity as she battles to bring a divided world together. An all-powerful ruler called the Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) governs over one kingdom. He has outlawed magic and faces a looming disaster brought on by a mythical force — as well as the wrath of a growing cauldron of witches. The rest of the cast includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, and Joely Richardson.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Emerald City on NBC averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.02 million viewers. Compare its standing against the other NBC TV shows we are tracking. This fantasy series has been on a rocky road. It was supposed to film in 2014 and air in 2015 but NBC cancelled production due to creative differences. The network reversed that decision in April 2015 and hired a new showrunner. The series didn’t premiere until January 2017 and was given a Friday night timeslot. That leads me to think they may not have much faith in the series. The ratings have been quite poor, even for a Friday night show. Unless something magical happens to lift the ratings, I believe the Emerald City series is doomed to be cancelled. Sorry, Dorothy. 5/5 update: Emerald City has been cancelled by NBC. There will be no second season. Details here.

Would love to see Season 2 of Emerald City. Give us at least another season, dying to see where the story goes!!!!! Loving the chemistry and the take on the whole story.
Would truly love if they had a second season for this show, I enjoyed its complexity and abstract tones…. Plus, it’d be unfair to cancel it when we’re left with such a questioning cliffhanger.. So, give us Emerald City season 2 please and thank you, Lol..
I think that Emwrald city should be renewed for sure. It was great with so many dumb reality shows out there this was a wonderful change. Please keep it going.

My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed this show! Loved the twist on this tale and how characters from other Frank Baum books have been used. Very creative writing!
Loved this show, I hope it gets renewed. Did anyone notice that characters from The Return to Oz were in it too. I’m excited to see if Mombi comes back after Ozma. I really liked the modern day twist and of course the love story.
