What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, Emerald City is the tale of a young woman named Dorothy Gale (Adria Arjona). She finds her true strength and identity as she battles to bring a divided world together. An all-powerful ruler called the Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) governs over one kingdom. He has outlawed magic and faces a looming disaster brought on by a mythical force — as well as the wrath of a growing cauldron of witches. The rest of the cast includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, and Joely Richardson.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Emerald City on NBC averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.02 million viewers. Compare its standing against the other NBC TV shows we are tracking. This fantasy series has been on a rocky road. It was supposed to film in 2014 and air in 2015 but NBC cancelled production due to creative differences. The network reversed that decision in April 2015 and hired a new showrunner. The series didn’t premiere until January 2017 and was given a Friday night timeslot. That leads me to think they may not have much faith in the series. The ratings have been quite poor, even for a Friday night show. Unless something magical happens to lift the ratings, I believe the Emerald City series is doomed to be cancelled. Sorry, Dorothy. 5/5 update: Emerald City has been cancelled by NBC. This is why I’m weary of watching new shows on NBC-they ALWAYS cancel the good shows, never give them a chance. This was an excellent rendition of the Wizard of Oz, creative and visually appealing. I pray NBC Nothing But Cancellations doesn’t add this to the pile. Arrrhghhh…

Unbelievable that NBC has not yet ordered a second season of this fantastic fantasy! Riveting and imaginative, this spellbinder is visually captivating with an incredibly complex story line. I hope NBC execs come to their senses and continue the saga soon.
I just finished watching season 1…I LOVED IT!!! Hope NBC renews so badly!! Plus I can’t wait to see what happens next…renew, renew, renew!!

I have to DVR all the shows I like because our life is so busy! It’s not fair to vote one out if not viewed from DVR within 3 days of airing. Not everyone has time to plop in front of the TV or watch the DVR consistently. Those of us who can’t still love to watch TV but life is a priority too.
Please please please Make a second season of Emerald City. Dark or not it’s amazing and the characters and actors are as well!!!! Bravo!!!

I just finished watching this on Hulu and I’m totally hooked. I loved it. Some may say it’s not the best out there, but for us fantasy lovers, this is a must for renewal.

My husband and I both love this show. He is very angry to hear that it maybe cancelled. (I as well ) Bring it back!!!!
I as well loved the series…I would hold off all my other Friday night activites just to watch the show. It was nice having something worth watching on TV on a Friday night. I also loved the actors/actresses and the twist they put on the Original Wizard of OZ movie. Please bring it back!!!
