Could Everybody Loves Raymond be coming back? Recently, creator Phil Rosenthal spoke with CinemaBlend about the possibility of a reboot for the CBS TV show.
A family sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond starred Ray Romano, Doris Roberts, Patricia Heaton, Brad Garrett, Peter Boyle, Madylin Sweeten, Sawyer Sweeten, Sullivan Sweeten, Monica Horan, Jon Manfrellotti, and Andy Kindler. The series ran on CBS for nine seasons before ending in 2005.
In the interview, Rosenthal said he has no interest in reviving Everybody Loves Raymond:
I know what you’re going to ask and the answer is no. I’ll never say never, but look, we lost three of our cast members, right? It’s never going to be the same again, it can’t be. Plus these shows usually aren’t the same again anyway. We did the show exactly the way we wanted to. If you love the show and love those characters, they’re still available, thankfully, in syndication. You can always visit your friends. . . . I think to try and recreate that (now), it’s like we don’t ask football players at 70 years old to go out on the field and let us tackle them again, right?”
But what about a reunion special? Rosenthal says he’s down for that:
Here’s what I would do. I would happily do a reunion show where we get together and we reminisce about the show. You can see how everybody looks if you’re interested. You can see them interacting. They’re pretty close to their characters anyway. And we can show clips and tell stories about the times we had, and that way you can revisit them now.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Everybody Loves Raymond? Would you watch a reunion special?
Please do a reunion special
Please no stop please stop please stop please stop all of these revivals
Sheer click bait, as always. Same thing happened with headline about will there be a FRIENDS reboot, and you click and it’s a NO. Same here.
Why can’t there be a revival with Ray, Debra, Robert and Amy? I’m sure a good sitcom can be done with those characters. Frank and Marie could be in Florida. Boys could be away in college, or in the service overseas. You can still have Ally and her family involved. It’s doable.
I so loved this show. The mother and the father always reminded me of my mother and father. Every night me and my wife go to bed and put on one of the dvds and watch the show. I would watch a reunion show.
Margaret-
I would absolutely watch a reunion show! I LOVED the show, have all 9 seasons on DVD, and often watch episodes with my husband and children. We frequently use lines and expressions from the show, like, “9 o’clock A.I.S., or “remember the canister?”. I agree that trying to bring the show back would be a mistake. You could not re-create that magnificent chemistry. I just worked!
Yes, I would watch a reunion. I love this show and watch it over and over. As for the series coming back. I agree with Rosenthal. It wouldn’t be the same. I loved Marie ( Doris Roberts), no one could replace her! I loved her in other shows too and movies! She was the best and was so sad of her passing. But yes, I would definatly watch a reunion! Hope so!
A reunion special would be great. I stI’ll watch all the reruns
Mike:
I would Love to see the show start up again with the remaining characters, but if that
can’t happen then a reunion would be great to see.
I would LOVE to see a reunion show! I still watch the reruns every night!!!
I sure would love a reunion I still watch this every night I have seen the shows over and over and still love it
Yes!!, one of my favorite shows, still watch!
Absolutely! One of the last great sitcoms
Go ahead and say never. Love this show but I am tired of this tired trend. It’s perfectly fine for a show to be OVER.
I would definitely watch a reunion or reboot. We loved the show, especially the husband and wife interaction with both the older and younger couples
Would love a reunion show, it was my favorite show then and still is today, I own all the seasons and still watch it a lot and it always makes me laugh!! Greatest show ever!!
