FOX seems to be trying to purify itself, today. In addition to cancelling Lucifer after three seasons, the network has also cancelled The Exorcist TV show after a two-season run. It seems they can’t give the Devil his due and pay Tim Allen, too.
An anthology drama, The Exorcist follows Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and former priest Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) as they uncover evil. The season two cast also includes Kurt Egyiawan, Zuleikha Robinson, John Cho, Brianna Hildebrand, Li Jun Li, Christopher Cousins, and Cyrus Arnold.
Lucifer: A Look at the Ratings:
Ratings have always been low for The Exorcist and it looks like season two was the final nail in the coffin for FOX. Overall, the season averaged a 0.41 rating in the 18-49 demo and 1.322 million viewers, and was down by more than 30% in both measures, in comparison to the first season.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed The Exorcist cancellation, as has show creator Jeremy Slater. Check it out.

What do you think? Did you watch The Exorcist TV series? If it were up to you, would FOX have cancelled or renewed this TV show for season three?
Jessica Pena contributed to this report.
I’m so disappointed the series was canceled. I know a lot of people who was waiting for the series to come back. I don’t know where you get your rating from. I thought it was great.
If they stick with white rich family and not with UN foster family they will get next season.
This was one of the better shows. I’m not surprised that it was cancelled after Fox was bought by Disney.
I’m very saddened to hear this. Another great show gone too soon. At this point nearly all the shows worth watching are coming from the BBC.
Too bad my husband and I really liked the show. It wasn’t just fluff tv you had to think about it. It was well written And the actors were believable. Getting tired of us tv shows . We are watching more and more tv from Britain and Australia . They are written better than most Americans tv shows .
I’m so mad I love the excorcist it was great. I wish they would try one more season.
Great news, I just bought the first season and didn’t like it.
I had a feeling The Exorcist would get cancelled since I always felt like I was the only one watching it. It was a great show though. Unfortunately the majority of people don’t like any show that makes them think.
Well, now that my two favorite shows were cancelled I have absolutely no reason to watch FOX again…ever! The Exorcist was well written and the acting was fantastic. In fact, it was surprising that the show was even on FOX since their shows at best tend to be mediocre, or a rehash of the same shows (how many “chef” shows do we really need or want?). The one show that they had that was wonderful, different, and intelligent, they didn’t know what to do with it. I will continue to hope that it gets pick-up somewhere else and get the… Read more »
My sentiments exactly Gisela. Maybe an intelligent network like BBC will pick up this show. They seem to like well written shows with good acting that make people think. Fox has made a big mistake by canceling The Exorcist.
This was really a good show. I think another network should pick it up because it definitely was a good, scare, and creepy show.
Another one bites the dust! I liked this show….
I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS !! THE EXORCIST WAS SUCH A GREAT SHOW !!
This was probably the best show on FOX. The acting was extraordinary as were the special effects and the stories. This show seemed like it should have been on pay TV rather than network, it may have found an audience if it had been able to be more graphic.
As for the passage, to hell with that show as well.
Bad moves, Fox. Bad moves.
You should be cursing those generic shows about crime or medicine. But I guess not, it’s easy to hate on other sci-fi, fantasy or horror shows, huh?
And yes, curse Fox, curse NEW Fox, but leave out the shows that fit into OLD Fox or WERE actually FROM Old Fox (that survived) out of it.
Will never watch fox ever again
Why cancel the show that people like and keep stupid ones on
