TV show description:
This sitcom follows Jack Shea (Kyle Bornheimer), a man who’s had an incredibly streak of bad luck — from enlisting in the Army to flunking out of seminary, three times. When he returns home, his father Tony (J.K. Simmons) suffers a heart attack and Jack must take over his dad’s beloved handyman business.
Jack is eager to finally step up and make his father proud but his past career efforts have been less than stellar. Asa result, everyone seems to be waiting for him to fail. His new job isn’t made any easier by Tony’s rebellious, troublemaking assistant, Darren Poynton (Edi Gathegi), and Darren’s flirtatious sister, Liz (Danielle Nicolet), who works at the local hardware store.
Thankfully, Jack has the support of his Aunt Terry Baumgardner (Leah Remini) and his oddball (yet endearing) cousin Mason (Johnny Pemberton) so that he may finally find his true calling — right at home.
Episode #10 — Terry By Design
Terry starts offering decorating advice to a Mr. Jiffy Fix client after she insults her house. Now she thinks she’s working with Jack and Darren as a designer and Tony is sure this will spiral out of control. Once Jack sees the new neon multicolored uniforms she made, he agrees.
When they take her to the most awful and critical client in town (an old woman named Flosette) it seems like a good plan to crush her spirits. Unfortunately, Flosette dies before she can say anything bad. Tony strands them both of them three miles from home so they must walk home and work it out.
Also, Mason becomes CPR certified and wants nothing more than to save a life.
First aired: July 10, 2013
What do you think? Do you like the Family Tools TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I didn’t think the show was too bad. It was nice to see Leah Remini back on television after being booted from “The Talk.” You also gotta love J.K. Simmons! Thought the show had plenty of laughs, but apparently not enough.
I really liked “Family Tools”. I hope another network picks it up since ABC doesn’t know a great show when they have one.
Yes it should have been cancelled. Not funny at any point!
I LOVE LEAH REMINI ON THE KING OF QUEENS.
IF THIS SHOW IS NOT FUNNY IT ISN’T BECAUSE OF LEAH.
I HOPE SHE GETS A GOOD SERIES IN THE FUTURE.
LEAH IS TOO GOOD TO BE ON FAMILY TOOLS.
I’m not very impressed yet with this show but I do think it has promise. The show has an excellent cast with Remini and Simmons, and Bornhiemer has good comedic talent. In other words, I like the talent, but the writing needs improvement. More one liners, better one liners, better story lines. Use Simmons more, he is a comic genius ( see Ladykillers). Most of all, stop announcing cancellations so early ( the series has already filmed so let it play out, remember Seinfeld ). Nothing kills a series faster than a cancellation announcement. Give the show a chance to… Read more »
I loved Leah Remini in King of Queens. This series is boring. They should make a remake of King of Queens. I haven’t laughed yet at this one.
Cancel immediately.
One show can not make a season but this one epy wasn’t that good. Laughed once.
