Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
They are renewing Nashville instead…..stupid
Therereally must be another series -best thing I’ve seen in ages
I AGREE WITH Everyone. The show was a GREAT clean cut Family show. The Horror to have one of those around. I ABSOLUTELY HATE these T.V. stations cause they are ALWAYS canceling Great shows and leave you hanging.
I’m really sad at this moment knowing that a show that I enjoy is cancelled. I just wish that this decision can be reconsidered. To me watching this show through “HULU”, was quality time with my family. We all waited for a new episode every week to see what would happen next. Now, its gone and left viewers as myself and my family with all these questions. Will Henry tell Jo about his secret? What will happen to Adam? Will Adam come out of his disease and try to harm Henry or Abraham? Are they other like them? How will… Read more »
What a shame I love this show. Netflix should get it, I so tired of ABC cancel good shows. Someone needs to save this show please.
I am so disappointed in the cancelling of Forever. I wait, almost with baited breath for each new episode.
I was looking forward to finding out how Henry would tell Jo the truth and to her response. Now, I guess, I will never know.
It would be nice if they reconsidered for another season.
Such a shame TPTB at ABC seem to have their heads up all their asses. This show had many more stories to tell, many more backstories to explore, much more of Henry’s history to flashback on for its loyal fan base. Forget for a moment their excuse of “low ratings” for cancellation; what the hell do they think they’re going to replace it with in that troubled timeslot? Forever has been more successful in that timeslot than anything else they’ve already tried and dumped. Why risk something new when something established is doing better than any show previously scheduled at… Read more »
You are using common sense, so you’ll never get through to ABC, as it is clear that ABC hasn’t any!
Saddened and disappointed at the canceling of Forever. Everyone I know who watched was in the over 50 categorie and loved it!
Please do not cancell. Everyone I know watches this give it one more season. Their are many shows in the past they said would not make it and were hits. Their are to many reality shows. Abc wake up
A wonderful show if people would have watched they would be hooked will miss it
One of the few shows I watch should it should not be cancelled. It is different and entertaining. It seems all their is. On tv is reality shows. Everyone I talk to watches this. Please re think. You will disappointed many
I find it so disappointing that a fine and fascinating show like Forever is canceled. The plots were intriguing and the dialogue was so very good as well as the characters. Canceling this show by ABC is such a shame. Again a really good show is thrown away. I too am tired of all the garbage that is kept back on the networks year after year. TV is becoming targeted at those with low IQ’s or at least those with very low self esteem.
I watched “Forever” because Ioan Gruffudd is so appealing and the show was one of those hot cup of tea comfort shows like Murder She Wrote.
But the writing was not particularly creative, the “immortal” idea is much overdone on both tv and film, and I can’t imagine anyone under 50 making a weekly date with Forever.
I hope Gruffudd ends up with something better.
They keep The Bachelor and Galavant and toss out Forever? You’re insulting your audience, but then again, I’m over the age of your targeted demographics. I forgot. My opinion doesn’t matter.
I loved Forever!! They kept Galavant but cancelled Forever!! How stupid is that!
