Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.

So bummed about this. Forever actually had an intelligent plot, a well chosen actor base and an intrigue that was just over the top classy. This is the only show I looked forward to. I guess everything tv wise has to be dumb downed, full of sex or a same sex couple to stay on the air. Wake up. There is so much more to life and this show had it.

I think overall the networks need to look into what is being counted as watched. I personally don’t watch many shows as they are broadcast but record them for later. It is no wonder the networks keep cancelling popular shows.
Well when the ABC decides to play other shows or events in the Forever time slot people wont know when to tune in next. Forever didnt show on its time for 3 to 4 weeks. I would tune in to see something else on. If ABC wanted to keep those viewers they need to stop doing that. I thought forever was one of the only breakout shows this season. I think ABC Failed them.
Not AGAIN! Tv execs seems to prefer lowest common denominator programming. It’s no mystery why intelligent viewers are fleeing for cable networks. Anything that is intelligent, engaging and fun can’t compete with mindless comedy or mindless “reality” shows. And don’t forget about the cartoon “action” shows. Very original. Forever is a well written (and performed) show, always fascinating. That seems to be the formula for getting cancelled these days! BOO ABC! No wonder your ratings keep dropping.
I really enjoyed the show, ABC keeps canceling the good ones! Put it on earlier on Monday or Tuesday and maybe ratings will get better.
I guess the network folks prefer: *Crime drama with no thinking required — viewer get to see a cast of regulars and just one visiting guest star…. hmmm Who done it? *Cartoons that are so formulaic that they can probably just splice together art and voices from the previous years of seasons. *Remarkable geniuses who never actually do anything intelligent, but have a couple of cast clowns with banging boobs * Comedy with some fractions of bad actors who, quite frankly, have more entertaining personal lives than what the writers of the programs are capable of producing. the show forever was one of the few show’s I cared to watch weekly. It was good show and the lead actor did an outstanding job in his role. Finding out it was cancelled was A huge disappointment. It was by far better than so many of those “hit shows” that are on TV now. They need to seriously reconsider the cancellation of this show and give it another season. Maybe even change it up a bit somehow someway. the show has great potential and lots of fans. Shame on the network for cancelling a quality show.
I really question ABC and the type of television shows they want to show. Tuesday night is a really hard night as it is not a major television night. Then to cancel a really interesting with quality actors etc…and then to maybe replace it with crap….it is ridiculous. I pray that another station with an ounce of sense would take this television show and make ABC jealous.
One of the best written shows in a long while. Doing nothing but getting better. Everyone I told about it, thought it was great.
I love this show!! Can’t believe they are not renewing…yet we still get crappy reality shows renewed year after year. Sadly, a lot of people cannot seem to follow a good plot or a good story line. This really makes me mad!

Seriously??!! Between ABC and NBC canceling some of the beat shows, the only network left to watch now is CBS! NBC and ABC y’all need to get yalls stuff together! Wth is wrong with y’all??!!!

I wish you would renew Forever. Every time we find a show we like its off the air. Please renew and give them another Year.
