TV show description:
This musical comedy series comes from animated musical veterans Dan Fogelman (writer), Alan Menken (composer), and Glenn Slater (lyricist). It revolves around a dashing hero who once lost the love of his life to an evil king. It’s now time for the hero to exact his revenge and restore his “happily ever after.”
Charming and handsome, Galavant (Joshua Sasse) is a gallant knight and hero so beloved that he is known by just one name. When he goes to save the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), after she was kidnapped by the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson), she rejects Galavant.
He proclaims that all he has to offer her is his love and it seems that the demanding beauty would prefer a life of fame and fortune over love. So, she marries the King.
Since then, Galavant has gone broke, stopped bathing, and has gained weight — most likely due to his penchant for libations. Sid (Luke Youngblood) is Galavant’s trusty squire who assists the fallen hero in keeping his life in order as best he can. Adopted as a baby, Sid was left on an older couple’s doorstep.
Notorious for his evil ways, King Richard indulges in such hobbies as raising taxes and tormenting the poor. The evil king isn’t as tough as you might think however. One insult from Madalena and he bursts into tears. Gareth (Vinnie Jones) is the king’s rough and tough right-hand henchman who often has to instruct the king on how to be more manly in his ways.
Spunky Princess Isabella (Karen David) — whose full name is Princess Isabella Lucia Maria Elizabetta of Valencia — seeks out and engages the depressed Galavant in order to save her people from King Richard. She’s sent by the king to lure Galavant to him so that King Richard can kill the fallen hero in front of his former flame, Madalena.
Episode #18 — The One True King (To Unite Them All)
Under Madalena and Wormwood’s spell, the zombie army revolts against Galavant. Meanwhile, Richard goes after Wormwood. Elsewhere, Gareth tries to reason with Madalena, but she is driven to learn how to use her newly acquired dark magic.
First aired: January 31, 2016.

Hands down the biggest surprise & the best sitcom in a very, VERY long time! Perfect choice of actors! All of them! I do not remember series with such a memorable cast! Not only the lead roles! Everyone stands out on their own! Fresh & genuinely funny! I applaud! Thank you for great entertainment! Thumbs up!
This show is hilarious. I enjoy watching and listening to the actors in this show. The singing is the icing on the cake of this show. I hope the next episodes that come out will tie up some loose ends from the last show.
Must say the performers are fantastic-
The acting AND singing and even the dancing- the writers and so forth-
Awesome work!!!
Please keep this show ABC-
So fresh from the regular same old stuff…
Love this show–
A TV series that’s a MUSICAL?! And funny, adult but not
Raunchy– sort of Monty Python like-
Love the guest appearances–
Some people mention the fact it’s another “fairytale” series as a
Negative- but honestly– what other prime time TV series could possibly be a MUSICAL- and not be within or related to this genre theme?
I find myself humming the tunes – things with music stick 🙂
Please DONT CANCEL THIS SHOW….,
Please bring Galavant back. We all love the show.
I was prepared to pass over this show thinking it would be an nonredeemable waste of time. But I decided to give it a few minutes and if it was as bad as I thought it would be I could just turn it off. Well it stayed on for the first two episodes and I watched the rest of the episodes each week. Now I am here to see if this gem of a show will see a second season. I congratulate the actors and production for a thoroughly enjoyable show and ABC for taking a chance by giving this… Read more »
Humorous, satirical and melodious. Truly enjoyable to watch. Such a refreshing change from reality tv and boring sitcoms with antiquated laugh tracks.
Great show, reminds me of Princes Bride
