It’s been many months now since CBS cancelled Ghost Whisperer. Many fans of the TV show are still shocked and upset about the cancellation and series star Jennifer Love Hewitt can sympathize.
In a recent interview with Zap2it, Hewitt revealed that she bought into the rumors that ABC might pick it up and talked about Ghost Whisperer’s abrupt end. She said, “For me, it was a total shock… I thought our next season probably would be the last, just because the show had been on for a really long time. It’s hard to come up with new things that will keep people intrigued, but I never thought in a million years that was going to have been our last season..”
Hewitt also expressed sadness about the fact that the story of Melinda Gordon was left unfinished. She noted, “I didn’t feel the series ended the way that [Melinda] deserved for it to. We left the audience sort of hanging, and I hate that. When you’ve taken people on a journey for so long, the least you can do is give them a goodbye. For a show that was about unfinished business, we didn’t get to finish.”
What do you think? What “unfinished business” bothers you the most about the show? How would you have ended Ghost Whisperer?
I still think they should’ve been one more episode for a better ending . fast forward a couple years, Maybe Amazon prime or Netflix can figure something out for us .?
I still watch all of the episodes I really loved the show .
It would be cool to see a sequal 20 years in with Aiden picking up the mantle and some flash backs of Melinda guiding him through to adulthood and their advetures along the way as a back story to how he deals with situations now.
This is the very reason why people have now decided to let a show stack up on their DVRs just to see if it will last for at a season before they even start watching it! It’s also the reason why I go to websites to find out if a show actually came to a conclusion BEFORE I decide to watch it on Netflix. This kind of disregard for the viewer is also why other shows that have potential rarely survive. Because networks have sown so much distrust with their viewers that people refuse to get sucked in to another… Read more »
How could you just end such a great show with an ending like this!! Who does that! Why can’t it be brought back! Totally ridiculous to end something this way! Very disappointed in your network!!
They did not know it would be the final season until after they had shot the entire thing so there was no chance for them to go back and write a finale that would sufficiently conclude the show. They were just as disappointed themselves.
Really dissapointed with how the abruptly ended ghost whisperer. One of my favourite shows of all time. I wish they would bring it back 🙁
I agree we were left hanging. that was terrible. every Friday family & I my sister would come over we’d watch . that last evening was such a shock. we that it was a mistake. then thought the following Friday we would continue. but then there was no explaination. why don’t they bring it back or start a new one. and would like to see if they would put in a Marathi from The very first one on. that would be awesome. but I also think to start were they left off. I know a lot a people would watch… Read more »
There for I love the show Ghost Whispered even tho it’s no longer on tv I still watch it on Netflix it’s one of my favorite showers I was ever upset and sad that it ended I wish the show was still on air because it was every interesting and it caught my attention I wish the show would come back and continue because the fact of the matter that the episode the last episode honestly did leave the viewers hanging a little bit I just wish it would come out so It could finish what It started .
Asie from the fact that you turned one paragraph into a sentence (periods, my dear) I agree wholeheartedly with your comment.
This was a wonderful show. I am half way through season four and am now braced for a disappointing ending of the series in season 5. Very interesting writing/story lines and good cast. I’m glad to see that the actors seem to be busy with other projects. A return of the series or a final show seems incredibly unlikely which is a shame. I wish there was a way to finish Melinda’s story.
Oh yeah Courtney I agree with you they should have the laughing man talk and adain the little kid melindas son should have her powers and prefesrr pain comes back.
What happened to Gabriel, romano and the laughing man plots???
Please put it back on again , I loved it
That was werid to stop the show when I didint have nothing to do I will go on Netflix and watch 7 shows a day I really liked that show it was a good family bound funny and spooky show I love all of the cast actors fxck abc
Brin it back beacuse I want to know if rick will come back, if homor the dog will come back, who the laughing man is how he died and if andrea crossed over
Just finished watching all 5 seasons on Netflix. What a terrible disappointment in the ending. What happened to all the un answered questions? Like the ghost in the town under Grandview? Or Malinda’s brother?? Or pretty much anything!!! Terrible way of drawing you and then shutting you down…… Hard! Lol
yes! i just finished the series on Netflix and am wondering the same as you…what happened to Homer the dog? do those ghosts under the town get released? where did the brother go? and as for the Jim/Sam thing…did Sam’s family just disappear? seems like there would have been issues to iron out there too. what about Eli’s parents? do they ever cross over?
I agree love the show what happen to the unanswered questions like to now they need to make a up date of there life’s
I had the same thought!!! I was like what about the town under the town???!!! I was thinking it was going to end up being where the shadows were but nope just finished the series and I’m left thinking what happened to the town???!!! And so many other unanswered questions… so disappointed with this being the end…
There was so much more that the story needed to follow through with… DaMN the network for not continuing something that actually worked with good actors… all we have now is garbage to watch… thankful for the Internet.
