While being interviewed by Alec Baldwin for his podcast, Girls creator/star/executive producer Lena Dunham said that season three of the HBO series would get underway soon. She told him, “We’re starting season three at the end of March… I’m so excited.”
Judd Apatow said something similar back in November.
Dunham noted that Girls will be taking over the soundstage used by 30 Rock at Silvercups Studios in New York.
Deadline reports that HBO has been preparing for season three for a couple of months and supposedly closed a deal with executive producer Jenni Konner to return as co-showrunner, alongside Dunham.
Girls certainly doesn’t bring in a big audience (you can see the latest ratings here) but it did extrememly well at the recent Golden Globes. That kind of high profile and exposure can ultimately go a long way in helping HBO attract and retain subscribers.
What do you think? Do you like Girls on HBO? Do you think it should be renewed or should HBO use their resources for other programming?
Girls is the new Sex in the City! I think its a super GREAT show!
I watch every show on HBO and Showtime and this is without a doubt the second worst show in the group. I have to sit through this crap because my wife watches the show. Funny how great shows like Deadwood and Carnival were cancelled but this show survives for a third season. Less than 1 million people watch this show folks. So why is a show with unattractive females, weird boyfriends, strange friends, and a lousy plot being renewed again? Especially when the ratings are horrendous.
