After 13 years of movies and TV show episodes, magic is leaving the town of Middleton. Hallmark Channel has decided to end the Good Witch series so there won’t be an eighth season. The series finale airs on Sunday, July 25th.
A fantasy comedy-drama series, Good Witch stars Catherine Bell, James Denton, Sarah Power, Catherine Disher, Kylee Evans, Katherine Barrell, Marc Bendavid, and Scott Cavalheiro. Set in the town of Middleton, the show follows Cassandra “Cassie” Nightingale (Bell). She’s the owner of a shop called Bell, Book & Candle and is married to Dr. Sam Radford (Denton). Like her daughter Grace, Cassie has the gift of enchanted insight and magical intuition. The velvet pouches of soil discovered by Cassie, Abigail (Power), and Joy (Barrell) at the end of season six mark the start of a new Merriwick mystery for the cousins to unravel. This leads them to reflect on their pasts and how certain life events have impacted who they are now. Alongside the usual Middleton fun, season seven promises new relationships, personal challenges, and romance.
The seventh season of Good Witch is averaging a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.53 viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season six, that’s down by 29% in the demo and down by 18% in viewership. It’s one of Hallmark’s lowest-rated series but still does pretty well when compared to other cable dramas.

In the series finale, the Merriwick cousins get ready to face the mysterious force putting their family legacy at risk while changes are in store for others in “The Wedding,” premiering Sunday, July 25, (9 p.m. ET/PT), on Hallmark Channel. Catherine Bell has starred as the lead character Cassie Nightingale for magical 13 years when Hallmark viewers were first introduced to her in the 2008 original movie “The Good Witch.” The popularity of Cassie and her adventures in the bucolic town of Middleton led to seven more movies. In 2015, the franchise was adapted as a primetime series that enjoyed seven enchanting seasons.

I’m so disappointed! First, Home & Family is canceled, now Good Witch!?! Hallmark, what’s the matter with you. You’ve always made such great decisions about your programming, especially during the pandemic and during the holiday seasons. You’re starting to act like every other cable channel.
Hallmark has a new leader! I suspect the rating aren’t the real reason the show is being cancelled.
I COMPLETELY AGREE!! It’s the Leader who is deccimating this channel. She must be jealous of the Actors. and the Hosts of Home and Family.
I agree , Hallmark Channel is not the same. The ratings have gone down because of the new Leadership decisions

I believe you’re right about it not actually being about the ratings of the show, as to the reason Good Witch is being cancelled! I’ve noticed a trend lately, that shows (on nearly every network) with either a main character, or major character (one that’s in nearly every episode, along with the main) who is LGBTQ, such as the character of Joy, in the case of Good Witch, are being cancelled, while using the flimsy excuse of low ratings as the reason for cancellation!

I cannot believe Hallmark. Canceling Good Witch and Home and Family? Does Hallmark even care about what its viewers want? I’m upset about both shows but especially Home and Family — I’ve watched this every season it’s been on! So disappointed!!!
I love the Good Witch series. I will really miss it. It has good morals, nice people. Like a place you would like to live. It was good to watch people who want to do the right thing. Not much of that on TV these days. Wish I you would rethink your p ok position on this.
Who knows, maybe they will replace with witch wives of Middleton, another classless reality show.
Say it’s not so, with Jesse Metcalf leaving Chesapeake Shores & Good Witch ending I’m going to have NOTHING to watch during the summer!

Let me clarify, I had no idea “The Good Witch” was ever picked up as a TV show. So much for Hallmark’s promotion dept.
I am to see Good Witch dropped. It was the only show I looked forward to.
I am so sad that good witch is ending and will miss that fantastic cast ensemble and hope they will continue with the good witch movies . Thank you to the amazing actors in the good witch cast for years of enjoyment. ❤

We Love Good Witch and it’s characters so much we’ve bought all the seasons that have been available. Please reconsider ending this show. It’s brought true joy into our lives!

I am shocked that the Good Witch is canceled. Love the show. Hope Catherine Bell is picked up somewhere else. Great actress. Going to miss it all and everyone one else.
Soooooo sorry to see this series end! Hubby and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching all the wonderful characters the show delivers. Hopefully they can bring it back from time to time.
I am truly saddened by the news that Good Witch is being cancelled. It is the only show on Halmark worth watching. Myself and my family always watch it together and have made it a family night tradition. Shame on Halmark for taking this away from us. I will be dropping the Halmark channel following the finale. I suspect I will not be alone.
Extremely disappointed that the series is ending. Have watched every movie and episode and enjoyed each one. I do say the writing this year has not been up to previous years standards which is most likely why ratings are down. If you improve story line, you will see viewers increase. It’s not hard to figure that out. You are taking a great show off the air!!
