It’s no secret that Gracepoint on FOX is really struggling in the ratings. While we know that there’s no chance the series will be back for a second season, it looks like the show may not be on Thursday nights for long either.
Gracepoint begins when a young boy is found dead on an idyllic beach in the small northern California town of Gracepoint. The tragedy and media frenzy soon turns neighbor against neighbor as the police try to figure out what happened. The cast includes David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Michael Peña, Virginia Kull, Madalyn Horcher, Kendrick Sampson, Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver, Kevin Rankin, Sarah-Jane Potts, Stephen Louis Grush, Kevin Zegers, Jessica Lucas, and Nikolas Filipovic.
The show is currently FOX’s lowest-rated scripted series in the coveted 18-49 demographic. It’s averaging a poor 1.0 rating with 4.09 million viewers.
The November sweeps period starts next Thursday, October 30th, and runs through November 26th. It’s important for the network financially to get as many people tuning in to their programming as possible between those dates.
As a result, it’s very likely that FOX won’t keep poorly-rated Gracepoint on the regular schedule for much longer. I suspect that they will soon announce that the series is moving to Saturday nights. Here’s why:
On the Hell’s Kitchen Facebook page, the network has posted a couple graphics that indicate that the show can be seen on Thursday nights — except the reality series currently airs on Wednesday evenings. If Hell’s Kitchen is moving to Thursdays, it’s most likely to replace struggling Gracepoint and not Bones.
Last week, the network re-aired the first two episodes of Gracepoint on Saturday night. Sports programming will fill the next two Saturday schedules. I suspect that FOX will resume airing repeats and then new episodes of Gracepoint after that — likely in pairs — until all 10 installments have run.
On the positive side, at least the network will air all of the remaining episodes and the small audience will be able to see the mystery solved.
What do you think? Do you think FOX will burn off the remaining episodes on Saturday nights? Will you still watch them if that happens?
LOVE this show. We tape it and save it for a Friday night treat!!! So disappointed it won’t be renewed. Great acting, beautiful scenery and for once a show where I really can’t figure out who did it. Can’t ask for more than that!
i think that next to HOUSE OF CARDS, Gracepoint is the best series on tv, bar none, i really think the people at Fox dont know that the f…. they are doing,
Keep gracepoint- don’t make another ratings mistake and take off a show which makes you think in a great whodoneit. God knows we don’t need another cartoon!
I love this show and I think that Fox are fools if didn’t renew it it is grabbing exciting great actors if they didn’t have all these cartoons like they put on Sunday night and had better shows on like Gracepoint They wouldn’t be struggling like they are now. Not Gracepoints fault. I would love to see it back!!!!!’
I absolutely love this show! I don’t usually watch much tv but this has been wonderful!
I love this show. Every time a great show comes on it gets canceled! It pisses me off!
Oh my goodness!! I want to see the end. Is that too much to ask?
I really want to see how this ends. I REALLY hope we get some closure.
One of the best shows on tv. So few as well written and acted. A sha me if it is cancelled and very sorry if no season 2. David tenant is superb and Anna Gunn is just as superb.
I absolutely love this show!! I would be very disappointed if this show is canceled! The killing was my show before and they canceled that one! I hope to see a second season.
I love too, however, the reviews are not helping and they don’t, they have to cancel. They would show respect if they end the story with a reasonable end that satisfy our expectations.
It is a disrespect with us to finish a show without go to the end of the show. I use to buy on I tunes or watch Comcast . I try to buy only the show that has more season aired than the first one that may be cancelled. I want to know what the writer has to say about the end.One example, Political Animals…I loved that show and season 1 was all we got.
TIP: Before you buy the shows see that the reviews helps just a little. Watch a trailer (sometimes there are more than one), so you can be sure that show is for you or you are going to waste your money. I don’t like fictions and recently I bought two shows and I found out they both were fictions. It’s even better to buy one episode and check it out. Good luck!
I love this show!! Why would you cancel it?
I love this show! I feel it is well written and very suspenseful. I record the episodes and go back and re watch . I hope fox will keep the program.
Gracepoint is one of the best shows that I’ve seen in a long time. Too bad reality shows with no meaning take over the air. The actors/actresses in this show all play great characters. It’s the best “who-dunnit” show! Can’t believe they don’t want another season. 🙁
THIS SHOW IS EXCELLENT. PROBABLY NOT GETTING HIGH RATINGS BECAUSE THERE IS HARDLY ANY SEX SCENES OR GUNS BEING SHOT OR ANY BLOODY SCENES, I HOPE THEY CONTINUE IT.
Absolutely love this show! Great mystery can’t wait till its solved. No show on like it. Will definitely will be watching wherever or whatever day I need to watch it to finish it .
There is a show just like it, it was on BBC America and it is called Broadchurch and it is much, much better.
I’ve watched Broadchurch and agree , a good series. Think Gracepoint is on par with that with good acting. I find that many people nowadays can’t seem to watch any well-produced show unless it’s pushing the bar on sex, violence, nudity, and obscene language when the material has no need for it and only for ratings. I can’t stand 99% of the reality shows. I want shows that stimulate my brain cells and this who-done-it, fits the bill. Just hope that we actually do get to see the finale!
