This mystery drama is based on the popular Broadchurch TV show from the UK. The original series was so successful that a second season was ordered. FOX is billing Gracepoint as an “event series” but could it be renewed as well? Conversely, could it be cancelled before all 10 episodes have aired? Stay tuned.
Gracepoint begins when a young boy is found dead on an idyllic beach in the small northern California town of Gracepoint. The tragedy and media frenzy soon turns neighbor against neighbor as the police try to figure out what happened. The cast includes David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Michael Peña, Virginia Kull, Madalyn Horcher, Kendrick Sampson, Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver, Kevin Rankin, Sarah-Jane Potts, Stephen Louis Grush, Kevin Zegers, Jessica Lucas, and Nikolas Filipovic.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically the following morning, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Update: FOX has cancelled this series after one season but…
Final season averages: 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.63 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Gracepoint TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Please keep the show going. Really like it
Excellent show. I’m hooked. Hope it comes back for another season!
What the heck….. Why would the network air 8 eposides
then not run the final 2 for weeks…. Come on…. By the time
it airs I will have moved on….. X
Thanksgiving….
Love this show! By far, the best new show of the season.
Love this show. Keep it on! The “parent” show , Boradchurch is back for a second series.
This is the best thing on Thursday, at the very least. It is 11/20/2014 and Bones is on!!! I am so bored with Bones, how much can you take? Finally a new police show that is sharply done, good actors, and suspenseful.Surely they won’t keep us from seeing those last episodes! There are only 10 and this was 8.My whole extended family watches this show, talk about it and are so glad to have a show we haven’t figured out yet. Please Fox give us the rest of this season at least, another season at best.
It will be back on Dec. 4 . It is only off for Thanksgiving. It will wrap up Dec. 11.
The show in of itself is good. The way that it is delivered is kind of confusing and I have too say it does have a New England feel too it. The actors are not very good. The top cop Carver is horrible and the female cop is not too much better. I think you need to send all of the actors back to acting school to make themselves more believe able. Other wise it is overall not too bad of a show. Suspense keeps us coming back despite the acting.
The “top cop”, David Tennant, is one of the most popular actors in the UK. LOL. He is an award winning Shakespearean actor who gave sold out performances for months on end with the Royal Shakespeare Company as Richard II last year. His Hamlet was also critically acclaimed. He just won a Scottish BAFTA this week for his role in The Escape Artist. He also won awards for playing the same character in the British counterpart to Gracepoint. He is on the short list for the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Actor in a New series for this performance .… Read more »
Anna Gunn won multiple Emmys for her role in Breaking Bad.
… And this is America? So what?
Not sure what “this” being America has to do with it. The Escape Artist recently showed on PBS, which is an American station. Hamlet also was on PBS back when it came out. David Tennant occasionally hosts Masterpiece Theater on PBS. Broadchurch was on BBC America. He has won an Emmy and is currently nominated for the People’s Choice Award for his role in Gracepoint–a Fox USA show, which is also nominated.
My point was it’s ridiculous to claim that these actors are “horrible” and need to go back to acting school. Not really sure what your point is.
… But this is America, and no one cares about his British credentials. The only relevant thing is how is Mr. Tennant’s acting in Gracepoint, and I am not at all impressed. With the exception of Michael Pena and Nick Nolte, neither of whom have had enough to do, almost all of the actors seem out of place. Overall, I like the plot of Gracepoint and am looking forward to the changed ending, but a second season? Probably not.
The changed ending– so you are already familiar with Broadchurch and with David Tennant’s role in it… Giving you the benefit of the large amount of doubt, perhaps you are simply having a hard time adjusting to him as this new incarnation of the same character. PBS and BBC America are American stations. The People’s Choice Award is an American Award–and his nomination is specifically for this American role. An Emmy also is an American award, and his was for an American show, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. So, hardly “British credentials”. I am sensing you aren’t American and are… Read more »
BBC America is only partly American owned, and while PBS is an American corportaion, boths stations import a significant amount of programs from England; and in an effort to set itself apart as an above average cultured television station, for more than 30 years, the face and voice of PBS was Alastair Cooke, an English American. Since my father was a Brit (and my grandfather Ukrainian), both of whom became American citizens, I have absolutely no problem with foreigners taking American jobs, but I do have a problem with reciprocity. Take for example, original flavor Law and Order: U. K.,… Read more »
Love this show. My favorite of all the new ones this season. Bring it back!
I love this show! I hope they don’t cancel it and I also agree this is not a pbs show! Please do not cancel
Part of the problem with Gracepoint is that it is more suitable to PBS, rather that FOX, where the program was stretched from an eight part series, to a ten part one. According tp reports, even the killer was changed for Americans (I’m betting on one of the cops). What bothers me most about the actors, is that many of them are British and Canadian, not American, which gives the show a Canadian sort of feel and look, perhaps New England like, when it is supposed to be set in California.
I’m enjoying the series. Contrary to the comment above about the casting, I really like this cast and their respective characters; each is well-played and multi-dimensional.
Past the second episode, I found it impossible to not continue watching the next episodes on my DVR. Totally hooked.
I didn’t say that the actors were bad, just that they give the program a New England like feel, when Gracepoint is set in California, which has a different kind of vibe. I liked Dvid Tennant as Dr. Who, and I am sure that he is great in other parts, just not this one.
this is a really bad show….who cast these actors?
Are you talking about the Emmy, Golden Globe, BAFTA, Critics Choice, AFI, NTA, Saturn, and Alma (and more) Award winners, or the Oscar nominees?
love love love this show, probably the best on TV right now
so obviously, this show is to much sophisticated for us audience
LOVE IT, KEEP IT ON!!!
