Pay-for-view channel Starz has announced that Gravity won’t be back for a second year. The show completed its run last week after just 10 episodes.
Gravity is a dramatic comedy that follows a group from an eccentric out-patient program for suicide survivors. Co-created by Eric Schaeffer and Jill Franklyn, the cast includes Schaeffer, Ivan Sergei, James Martinez, Krysten Ritter, Rachel Hunter, Robyn Cohen, Seth Numrich, and Ving Rhames.
Starz had high hopes for the series but it just never caught on. The season (now series) finale attracted an invisible 0.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 54,000 viewers. To no surprise, Starz has admitted that neither Gravity nor Party Down will be returning for another round.
In a statement, Stephan Shelanski, Starz’ executive VP of programming, said, “After careful consideration, we’ve decided not to continue on with subsequent seasons of Party Down and Gravity. We’re grateful to everyone involved in the shows, and are proud to have had them on the channel. Starz remains committed to aggressively expanding our original programming lineup.”
What do you think? Did you watch Gravity? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

Loved the show. Didn’t even know it existed until my son told me. Starz NEVER even advertised the show. How were we supposed to know it existed? And Starz wonders why, it had lousy ratings?? How can you end a show as good as that, after one season? The case was awesome, unique and hysterically funny. STARZ SUCKS!!!
Gravity started off slow and didn’t pick up until about the third episode. I have to admit at first I was reluctant to watch but I fell in love with the show. I will miss it and the cliff hanger will always be in my mind, I hope they change their mind and decide to do a season 2. Gravity should have been better advertised the only time I would see a a promo for the show was when I went to TMN o on 309 to catch up on a show i missed, and it was the same promo… Read more »
i cant believe it– these shows are the only reason i get starz– i am going to cancel my starz package now
And I’m sure replaced with airings of “ConAir”. I like “ConAir”, but it really feels like Starz shows it way too often. Gravity was underrated and I enjoyed the eps I saw, but I could see it having a rough time building up a fan base. It’s not like Starz did ANYTHING to promote it. I’m bummed, but it would be cool to see another station give it a chance. A Showtime, FX, or potentially even AMC would of been much better in giving it a real chance to grow more than a 10 episode unfinished arch.
loved the show !!!!! I dont know why the canceled the show
Uh ya ..I got a knack for this kinda thing and I really think cancelling Gravity was very premature, It aired here in canada early summer when know one is really home watching T.V let alone new shows.. if u look on the internet, it has been gaining alot of popularity and now we are all left hangin after 10 ep. I think the producers should find another network that is “commited to new programming” No one is watching scheduled tv anymore we are all watching it when our personal free time allows it. So when a very unique show… Read more »
They better do a conclusion episode like when Pushing Daisies was cancelled.
That is the WORST way to end a season, especially if the show is finished.
i’m upset as well. how the f$$k do you end a season like that. i didnt watch the episodes when they were originaly aired but i did just sit for 2 days straight and watch all episodes shown on starz and i thought it was realy good. SEASON 2!!!!
TV companies are digging their own graves by cancelling shows the way they do. The result is that viewers hold off on getting into a new series knowing that the likelyhood ever getting to see a satisfactory ending is low.
How they can fail to see this is beyond me. Media corporations are just filled to the brim with idiots it seems.
Starz i hate you and i hope you get raped and diE!
they have a great show such as “GRAVITY” with a great season finally and “STARz” decides to cancel the show!!!, “Starz” how about the fans?, do we not matter?, and you wonder why your shows dont do great, the people that decided to cancel the show should be the ones that commit suicide. N you guys have the nerve to say that your proud of the show?!!!, i for one will not watch anymore Starz,, with all do respect , f* Starz, F* the ex. VP and f* all the a-holes that are only interested in money and dont care… Read more »
I am starting to wonder if it is even worth it to follow new television shows anymore. Every time I get into one it gets canceled and often leaves the viewers with cliffhangers that will never be resolved (FlashForward and Gravity being the two latest examples).
Watching new shows nowadays just feels like an exercise in futility.
I’m cancelling STARZ since I can’t watch Gravity. That’s the only reason we subscribed. Cable was gettng too expensive anyway. $9.00 less per month.
I am deeply disappointed that this show has been cancelled. How are we suppose to know what happens with the cop! You can’t just end a show like that!!! 🙁
