Pay-for-view channel Starz has announced that Gravity won’t be back for a second year. The show completed its run last week after just 10 episodes.
Gravity is a dramatic comedy that follows a group from an eccentric out-patient program for suicide survivors. Co-created by Eric Schaeffer and Jill Franklyn, the cast includes Schaeffer, Ivan Sergei, James Martinez, Krysten Ritter, Rachel Hunter, Robyn Cohen, Seth Numrich, and Ving Rhames.
Starz had high hopes for the series but it just never caught on. The season (now series) finale attracted an invisible 0.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 54,000 viewers. To no surprise, Starz has admitted that neither Gravity nor Party Down will be returning for another round.
In a statement, Stephan Shelanski, Starz’ executive VP of programming, said, “After careful consideration, we’ve decided not to continue on with subsequent seasons of Party Down and Gravity. We’re grateful to everyone involved in the shows, and are proud to have had them on the channel. Starz remains committed to aggressively expanding our original programming lineup.”
What do you think? Did you watch Gravity? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

This is a great show and it really needs to be reconsidered maybe Starz didn’t advertise it enough because i just found out about the show
I have been so close to cutting my wrists or swalling pills for the last 2 months. |I could totally relate to all of the characters and it was filled with real pain and emtional challenge. I had planned out whaqt I was “going to do” and was looking for a show to leave playing as kind of a backdrop to the end for me last night. Gravity was something that I picked for no other reason that I was high and i wished that I could just float away. Seemed appropriate. I watched 1/2 of the season then and… Read more »
I actually am a suicide survivor and I think that a show like this is just what we need to show society the things we feel before and after someone does anything like that. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!
I had never known about “Gravity” until I accidently found it several weeks ago while fiddling about at On Demand. It’s as entertainingly sophisticated as any number of FX and HBO offerings, unpromoted (as far as I can tell) as it was. Makes me wonder how Starz could ever have hoped it would find an audience with invisible marketing. Too bad about the cancellation because there is an audience out there. But it wasn’t alerted to the quality of the show, unlike the mildly entertaining potboiler “Pillars of the Earth.”
I think the show didn’t have enough exposure. If the actors had made the rounds of Regis & Kelly & late night talk shows I have no doubt it would have caught on. I sure hope they’re going to do a 2 hour movie to wrap up the cliffhanger if they’re not going to continue the series. It’s shameful to leave a series hanging like that!
This show was so entertaining and hilarious! I hope this show gets a chance to come back.
In the summer doldrums of bad television I find Gravity on Netflix… hooked from the first episode! And it got better. A new “Six Feet Under” I thought…watched em all. Couldnt’ wait for the next season…didn’t see anything on a second season…starting worring… Starting checking….CANCELLED! Again a show with great potential canceled..ala Dead Like Me, FireFly…… Maybe it wasn’t the show, or it’s content. Maybe it was the way it was packaged to your audience. I don’t subscribe to STARZ ….so I never new it was there. But please…give it another shot. You have a good mix of characters and… Read more »
Hey Starz, look at all these people who say they discovered it AFTER the original airing. Maybe if you had been more patient and advertised it better you would have seen how many people loved it.
I LOVE this shoe Bring it back please
Damn it all to hell! I just discovered the freaking show. After the first episode I was hooked and did an On Demand marathon. THIS is why it is so hard to get invested in a new show! Why risk getting invested in a new show if it is just going to be canceled with unanswered questions hanging there.
Who the F*CK is Miller?! Sure, we can guess he is Lily’s half brother but then we have to ponder the possibility that he stole and wore her underpants!
ARGGGHHH!
exactly!!!
I just discovered this show and really love it! Please re-consider your decision to terminate it. I think the real issue was the way it was marketed. Excellent program.
this show was great. it didnt catch on because killing yourself is taboo, no one wants to think or talk about it openly.
I am so upset I loved the show and it kinda helped me with my own depression and shows that things will get better and killing your self isn’t the answer . I think it didn’t do well because people think there is something that is wrong to kill yourself and that is a topic that there scared about . It’s a sick humour that makes you feel better or well me . They should have advertise it more because no one new it was out until last min . Please I want it back !!!!!!
This is a great show please reconsider the cancellation.
I only just discovered Gravity on it’s last showing but didn’t know it was the last show! I have been taping all the re-runs and looking forward to season two when I realized I hadn’t seen any advertising for it. I am SOOOOOO disappointed that they didn’t give Gravity a chance to catch on.
THis kind of show is exactly what we need right now. Mental health is a HUGE issue all over and this show dealt with it in such a brilliant way.
Plus… the characters and plot were great! ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
Please bring back this show!!!!!!!!
