Last week, ABC revised their primetime schedule and the final two episodes of Happy Town were bumped. The move didn’t come as a big surprise since the ratings have continued to drop lower and lower.
It was speculated that the episodes might air on a Saturday night in July, following in the footsteps of fellow cancelled shows the forgotten (July 3rd) and Eastwick (July 10th).
Now, the unofficial word is that the last two episodes of Happy Town won’t even be shown on TV. Instead, they’ll be burned off on ABC’s website. The show’s official network representative couldn’t offer us any details but confirmed that ABC doesn’t have plans to air the final episodes in the foreseeable future.
The writers and producers of Happy Town have been told that they’ll be released online but haven’t been able to find out when that will happen either. We’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
UPDATE: The last episodes have been posted. You can watch “Dallas Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore” and “Blame it on Rio Bravo” here.
What do you think? Does it upset you that the last two episodes will be released on the Internet? Does it matter?

I love this program. I’m disgusted at ABC that they won’t even finish the final two episodes. There was little advertising about the show in the first place. My friends are looking for it at my request but haven’t seen it yet. Being a new show, it can’t compete with other popular shows on at the same time. It needs time to gain popularity like any other new show. The actors are great. The plot thickens each week. It’s my favorite new show of the season.
Weren’t you ever told to finish what you start? Evidently not. No one asked me what I thought of the show. Who are you asking anyway. Must only be people who like reality shows. I, myself, like more suspenseful-type shows. No, the acting wasn’t the best, but I think it had a good story line. Will we ever know the ending or are we just left stranded?
Tell us ABC – why should we as viewers invest any more time in any of your shows when you couldn’t care less about your viewers. Happy Town may not have been the best show on the air, but it was interesting, and it was a mystery who-done-it type show. You think so little of your viewers that you’ll air a mystery and then tell your viewers they don’t deserve a pay-off answer ? How about you spend less time trying to find the next “Lost” (which was a phenomenon and can’t be replaced) and pay a little more attention… Read more »
Very disappointed in ABC again .They are always taking off good shows like HappyTown and the Forgetton.
I think that they have poor response because people will not invest their time in a new series for fear of it being cancelled in the middle! I know that is how I feel!
I am VERY upset with ABC for cancelling Happy Town. It was my #1 favourite show this year.
I will NEVER watch another new series on ABC because you get hooked and then the show gets yanked. And I live in Canada so will not be able to see the last episodes online if they put it on ABC.com
🙁
I agree every time you start watching a show they pull.
I think they cancelled it because the last episode they showed, where Tommy had to kill Big Dave, was quite terrible. At least the acting was, and it was incredibly cheesy.
I cannot believe the nerve of ABC to not air the last two episodes of Happy Town! It’s bad enough they cancel it without giving it a chance, now they say “to hell with you” to those of us who are following it and wanted to see it to the “end”. It’s outrageuos! Why would it be so bad for them to just show the last two???
I have to say SHAME On ABC For not Airing the last 2 shows of Happy town. They told Us 2 weeks back that Happy town would come back on 2 weeks. I just seeing another add for a rotten show to take its place. ABC did not even give happy town 1 chains its very rotten of ABC to do this. Great show & ABC Kills it off. ABC never liked Lost & told the Producers to get it off the Air way back during season 3. ABC Just wants to Air TV show of what they like &… Read more »
Amen to that Jerry. How long before Scoundrels and the Gates end up joining Happy Town, Eastwick and a host of others on the trash heap ABC is building of jilted shows.
I dont care how they are aired. TV or Online just give us closure. I want to know who the Magic man is!
I agree that ABC does not seem to care about disappointing their viewers. They arbitrarily pre-empted several episodes of Brothers and Sisters, which made it seem as if they were canceling the show. I love that show and am happy to hear they will bring it back. We really liked Eastwick, which ABC cancelled without announcement to the viewers, as far as we could tell. Two weeks ago, ABC showed a preview of the upcoming Happy Town to be shown in two weeks, but it’s no where in their scheduling. These are three shows I or my family have enjoyed… Read more »
Seeing as I live in Canada and can’t view online episodes on the U.S. websites, it is totally frustrating. What a waste of time, watching this show, when I will not get the see how it ends. I live a few miles from the town where this show was filmed and it was interesting to see places on TV that are so familiar. ABC is one station that I will be avoiding from now on, if this is how they treat their viewers.
Why bother watching ABC shows when they care so little about viewers. Honor the people that were watching and show the final two episodes on tv. ABC rarely finishes what they start and I’m not investing my time on their lineup. I might as well give up The Gates before I become invested in that too.
I’ve been looking for the show and tonight I looked it up and found out the bad news. This show was for my family to sit together and watch the show. I’m very sorry to see this program go without the two other esisodes but yet they have all those reality shows on that half should be cancelled. At least show the last of the episodes for your watchers.
I began watching Happy Town and was very intrigued with the plot and characters. Two weeks in, it disappeared. I have watched the last four episodes online since the tv schedule was so unpredictable. It is a shame that the show was cancelled since it was one show that had the viewers really guessing how all the puzzle pieces fit together. I will watch the show online because I want some resolution.
