I just finished watching the third show of Helix, the new science fiction show brought to us by SyFy. I went in to rate it at another site and was surprised at how low the numbers were and bad the reviews were. No doubt the first show, setting up characters and story was a bit tedious and APPEARED to be “the same old thing.” But I don’t work that way. I never review a show based on the pilot. Hate on Sy-Fy all you like. A few years ago I would have agreed with you. Before Being Human, Alphas (sadly cxl’ed), Lost Girl, and Defiance, I would’ve said SyFy just wasn’t capable of putting out good TV, but we’re now in the period AFTER I’ve seen 4 good new shows (LOVE to be able to both watch AND game in the Defiance World). The hubby and wife were famous people, the name of the superpowered guy in the movie I want to say… Read more »
When they need to use qualifiers like “intense thriller” and “terrifying life-and-death struggle” you know it is going to be a dud
Sounds “ripped from the headlines” and totally cliche. In other words, a typical SyFy offering.
