While HBO has cancelled Hello Ladies, that won’t be the end of the line for the characters. The cable channel plans to wrap up the TV series with a special. There’s no word on when it will air just yet.
Based on Stephen Merchant’s stand-up act, Hello Ladies revoles around Stuart Pritchard (Merchant) and his search for love in Los Angeles. The rest of the cast includes Christine Woods, Nate Torrence, Kevin Weisman, and Kyle Mooney.
The first season ran for eight episodes, from September until November of 2013. The premiere drew 522,000 viewers and subsequent installments drew fewer.
What do you think? Did you like Hello Ladies? Are you sorry there won’t be a second season? How would you like to see Stuart’s story end?
Bring it back!!
I new nothing of the show and was scrolling through series titles on hbogo.com and thought I would check it out. I watched the entire season in one night. Absolutely loved it!! It got better as it went on and for obvious reasons as I started to understand the characters and appreciate them. I think the series needs some marketing. I actually think it could be bigger and better than entourage. The writing, acting and the entire production was great! I’m really disappointed in this news.
Knew nothing
Shame on HBO. Hello Ladies was a great show. Very funny! Not surprised though, they cancel all the good shows. I was disappointed when they cancelled How to make it in America. Another great show. Well done HBO you bunch if corporate Clowns.
This is an incredibly funny show. Like the Office it starts slow and them the characters just start to get into your head. I’ve watched the first series twice. It was even better second time. Change your minds HBO, take a chance it wont miss.
This is the bets show on TV. I looked forward to it every week. This is so surprising and sad. Bring it back. Give it another chance and put some good marketing dollars behind it.
american audiences are dull and dim-witted. people in this country do not appreciate good, intelligent, high brow comedy. just look at the shows on any network and their respective popularity, it is 90 percent garbage, and this says a lot about the masses. the english have such a better since of humour. i love the self deprecating jokes and the dry wit. hbo probably wasnt the best network for this show, but stephen and ricky have good connections with them. the ricky gervais show was the funniest show on hbo–possibly better than da ali g show and mr. show with… Read more »
I like how you have conveniently concluded that the reason for this show being cancelled is the fault of “dumb Americans”…while implying that you are an exception to the rule. Do you honestly think that HBO isn’t an internationally viewed channel? The actual reason is simple, HBO is a company, they didn’t like the numbers they saw and instead of letting the fan base grow, they pulled the plug. You’re welcome.
Somebody has missed something here!!!! This is new and very entertaining, just what people need, big mistake HBO!!!!!
Great show can’t believe hbo has such poor judgement to identify a hit! So funny !
This show was totally dismal! Cringe worthy! It was surprising they went with this script from the get-go. The Stuart character was revolting. Nothing endearing about him whatsoever. The writing was on the wall from ep 1 I’m afraid.
WTF…this show was hilarious! Big Mistake HBO! Season 2 will premiere to 1 million viewers!!!!
HBO: Wake up! This show is the best thing you have produced in years. Did you not learn anything from your mistake with Deadwood? Hello Ladies has characters that I care about and want to know more about-rare in any show comedy or drama. It’s not too late. Add it to your line up. Look at all the junk that you’ve given second seasons to: Getting On; Bored to Death; Hung; The Life of Tim; Eastbound and Down; and of course, Girls. There are more, but I grow bored.
I totally agree! What a bummer, people would rather watch a tired family guy?
This show is hilarious> I’m so disappointed it didn’t get picked up for another season. Another blunder for HBO just like what they did with “Hung”!
very good show. makes no sense cancelling it!! stupid call HBO
Don’t cancel the show! I LOVE IT! I AM sad to see it go!! 🙁
I loved loved loved this show. HBO please don’t cancel this show.
