Yesterday, Hallmark Channel announced that host Cristina Ferrare would be replaced as co-host by regular contributor Debbie Matenopoulos. The cable channel didn’t specify when the change would take place.
Today, co-host Mark Steines made a quick announcement that Ferrare had left the show and that Matenopoulos would be replacing her, effective immediately. Ferrare hadn’t been on the show for two weeks and didn’t return for a send-off.
Fans of the show have been concerned if Ferrare was sick and have been wondering if the decision to leave was her decision. On her Facebook page, Ferrare confirmed that she is not sick and essentially says that she was fired. She wrote:
Okay here goes, I feel it’s important to finally step up to the plate and let you know what is happening.
First may I say that my family and I have been so thankful and appreciative for all the love, support, prayers, and good wishes you have been sending me on a daily basis for the past three weeks. It pained me so that I was unable to let you know what was going on out of respect for everyone on Home and Family and the Network. I was asked to wait and I have but now I feel I should out of respect for YOU let you know.
It’s really very simple, Home and Family will have a season 5 which I am so happy for and the Network decided that they want a new co-host and that will be Debbie. She will do a great job!
You can still reach me here on facebook and we shall continue honoring love of family and friends. I truly LOVE you all. You have been my rainbow!

I too liked Army Wives and never understood why they took it off the air.It was one of the best shows on tv.
As for Home and Family ,” The Idiots are running the asylum ” !!!!!

Just deleted it from my TiVo. I believed the cast truly loved, liked, and respected each other. That’s what made it a pleasure to watch. The fact they let Christina, of all people, go proves I was wrong. She was the heart of the show. Bye Hallmark.

I have a feeling you were replaced for a younger face.it seems to be a trend these days.i loved seeing you and never felt that way at all.you always did a super job.i loved it when you prayed.was that also a reason? We will never know!!!you have class christina !!! debbie is lfine but with age comes wisdom.you look beautiful too.!! You will be missed.its not the same show without you.!!! I dont watch hardly any more.
I watched Cristina years ago with Michael, I was so glad to see her again. The show just isn’t as good without her.
I think the name of the show should be changed. Home and Family denotes much more than a house setting and friends gathering. Home and family consist of so much more… such as secure relationships and unconditional love. It is the intangible ingredients that bring this recipe to fruition!
It’s not the same with out Christina..
Christina is why I watched the show, her beauty and poise are beyond compare, I will not watch the show as I don’t think the new younger girl adds much interest for me. I would say bring Christina back, but if I was her I wouldn’t come back. WE LOVE YOU, CHRISTINA.
Actually, I Always thought Christina was the main Host….and had hoped they would get rid of the “immature and sometimes moody” Mark! Christina and Regis ….they had a good fun talk session whenever she was on Regis and Kelly back in the day…they worked together yrs ago I believe….but Older the Wiser and there are many of us that would be tuning in …. Will stop watching the new co host is boring
Not knowing the whys and wherefores as to why you made your decision to let her go it’s hard to say…. BUT from my point of view it was a HUGE mistake replacing Christina. I don’t want to take anything away from Debbie BUT she’s not Christina and I miss her face and personality immensely. Please consider bringing her back full time or ……if nothing else for guests spots or something. It’s like her fans had to go COLD TURKEY losing her.. Very sad to see this change. Loved watching the show due to Christina being the host. She is lovely, has lived an amazing life and adds an element of depth the younger, cookie-cutter, skinny blondes do not even comprehend. Very disappointed in quality if the show now and cannot watch it. Hope Home and Family will regret their short sightedness!
I will not be watching the show any longer. Cristina was the main reason why I watched. She has the perfect personality for the show. I really identified with her! Please bring her back!! Or give her another show to be on.

I think Hallmark has been doing a lot of very STUPID I MUST SAY AGAIN VERY STUPID THINGS!!!!!! For qite awhile lately they have TOTALLY LOST THEIR MINDS I say Hallmark go outside knock you head against a tree hard then back up to where you started being STUPID which was taking ARMY WIVES OFF THE AIR then take a deep breath to get air back in that Stupid brain.
