Yesterday, Hallmark Channel announced that host Cristina Ferrare would be replaced as co-host by regular contributor Debbie Matenopoulos. The cable channel didn’t specify when the change would take place.
Today, co-host Mark Steines made a quick announcement that Ferrare had left the show and that Matenopoulos would be replacing her, effective immediately. Ferrare hadn’t been on the show for two weeks and didn’t return for a send-off.
Fans of the show have been concerned if Ferrare was sick and have been wondering if the decision to leave was her decision. On her Facebook page, Ferrare confirmed that she is not sick and essentially says that she was fired. She wrote:
Okay here goes, I feel it’s important to finally step up to the plate and let you know what is happening.
First may I say that my family and I have been so thankful and appreciative for all the love, support, prayers, and good wishes you have been sending me on a daily basis for the past three weeks. It pained me so that I was unable to let you know what was going on out of respect for everyone on Home and Family and the Network. I was asked to wait and I have but now I feel I should out of respect for YOU let you know.
It’s really very simple, Home and Family will have a season 5 which I am so happy for and the Network decided that they want a new co-host and that will be Debbie. She will do a great job!
You can still reach me here on facebook and we shall continue honoring love of family and friends. I truly LOVE you all. You have been my rainbow!

I’ve tried to watch it but just don’t enjoy the show anymore. Christina was the show for me. I don’t care for Debbie. Mark and Christina fed off each other well.

I really enjoyed watching Christina, I think it was awful what they did to her. Christina really made the show Feel like Home & Family!! I miss seeing her on the show so much!!!
It’s a shame that Christina is not coming back. If it’s home and family, doesn’t family always solve problems all the time to make a home? What ever the problem is, hope Christina comes back. Home and Family is never the same!
I have never liked Debbie M, no matter how hard I try, she is silly like when she was on the View, just don’t like her. Christina is “real” and I like her. I have not watched the show all summer as I thought Christina just took the summer off, I’m shocked that she was replaced, shame on you Hallmark.
will do something else with my time rather than watch without Christina. will tune in once in a while but not as often.
Debbie is a nice person, but I missed Christina. I haven’t watched the show since I saw she hasn’t returned.
I have been taping the show for a couple years so I could watch when I got home from school (I’ve been teaching 28 years). This summer, I was concerned when Cristina’s “few days off” continued and then with no good-bye or send off we were told Debbie had taken over as co-host. The show doesn’t feel as grounded as it was with Cristina; I can find lots of channels that have the same demographic reaching talk shows. I have stopped recording the show watch later . Christina made the show for me , she is closer to my age and I really liked her. Will plan to watch what ever show she lands on. Disappointed that channel who calls itself home and family turns out to be just the opposite. Time for a name change “to each his own” might fit just back stabbers, same on you
Totally miss Christina….hate the new lady…..Hallmark….just take the show off the air instead of dragging out the demise of the show! You really screwed this whole thing up!

I am very saddened that you will not be on the show anymore, I think you are the best for the show….. alway’s fun and bubbly…..I feel this is a mistake to replace you…..my thoughts…..no I do not want to watch the show now that Christina is not on.
Christina had a sparkle about her. Her beauty inside and out was a joy to watch. She cannot be replaced. Very disappointed she has been let go. Hope she gets her own show !

I think the network should have kept Cristina and the show the way it was. I have no interest in continuing to watch.
