Homeland will return to Showtime this fall with its sixth season. Previous reports have already revealed that most of the action will take place in the US – unlike previous seasons.
Now, Alex Gansa teased a bit more about the upcoming season. He revealed the timeline involved during season six in comments to Entertainment Weekly. He said the following:
“The whole season takes place between Election Day in November and the inauguration of a new president in January, during this strange and interregnum where a very fragile transfer of power takes place between the outgoing president and the incoming president-elect.”
In addition to that teaser, TV Line reported that Rupert Friend would return as series regular for season six. His character died at the end of season five.
Gansa teased the following about Quinn’s return:
“How [Quinn] is gonna be dramatized this year is going to surprise people, and it may not be what you think.”

I am extremely interested to see how they are going to bring Rupert Friend back. I was sad when Quinn died at the end of last season.
