It appears that Carrie’s work is far from over. Showtime has renewed Homeland for a fifth season of 12 episodes. They’ll air in 2015.
On Homeland, CIA officer Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is one of the best in her field, despite being bipolar, which makes her volatile and unpredictable. With the help of her long-time mentor Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), Carrie fearlessly risks everything, including her personal well-being and even sanity, to do what she feels must be done. The rest of the cast includes Rupert Friend, F. Murray Abraham, Sarita Choudhury, Tracy Letts, Nazanin Boniadi, and Laila Robins.
Including last night’s installment, seven episodes of the current fourth season have aired so far. The first half dozen installments have averaged 1.48 million viewers for the episodes’ initial airings. That’s down by 24% when compared to season three. It is however still one of the cable channel’s most popular shows.
The fourth season finale is expected to air on December 21st.
