Forget Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. The 2016 election belongs to Frank Underwood. In South Carolina, Netflix has opened up a real Frank Underwood election headquarters as promotion for season four of House of Cards, Creativity Online reports.
The new season will feature Underwood (Kevin Spacey) seeking reelection to the presidency.
This is not the first time Netflix has gotten creative with its advertising for the political drama. In December, a Frank Underwood ad played during a Republican Presidential debate.
At the opening of the headquarters in Greenville, SC, fans lined up to receive promotional materials from the new season in addition to free food from “Freddy’s BBQ.”
From a Netflix spokesperson:
The collision of the fictional timeline with real life events in the 2016 election presented Netflix with the unique marketing opportunity to align Frank’s presidential bid for the presidency with the actual presidential race.”
