Telly’s Take
The premiere episode earned low numbers and the ratings have improved only slightly. The premium cabler needs a new hit but it’s clear that this show isn’t it. I suspect I’m Dying Up Here will be cancelled but I’ll keep a hungry eye trained on the ratings and update this page as needed. Showtime SHOULD renew this very well written show. It is an authenticly accurate portrayal of that era also. It’s funny with ample servings of pathos thrown in. I couldn’t ask for anything more, LOVED it!!! 🙂 ♡
Please renew this show! Yes, it started a little slow, but then I got involved with the characters’ hopes, dreams, challenges and bonding as a family. Great cast. And please don’t wait until next June to do it.
Please renew! We love this show. It works across generations- we are 53,60, 23 and 20 and all love it!!
Great behind the scenes in the heyday of standup comedy! It could be dark, but then again, it was the seventies….I hope that it gets renewed for another season…love the characters, stories, love the struggles….I use to perform standup, improv, and sketch and can totally relate to much of the action and relationships! Can’t wait to see how it rolls out next season… Cheers That’s a wrap!
The darkness is what is most brilliant about this show. The way it hit us like a sledge hammer in the first episode, letting us know this show was not going to be all sitcom-y slapstick, but follow the formula of the best dark comedy/dramas such as Sopranos, and then continued steadily through race issues, drug use, parental relations and dysfunctions, ugh! i love(d) this freaking show.
