The Inspector Lewis TV show on PBS announces the eighth and final season premieres Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 9:00pm ET. In the US, the final season, starring Kevin Whately and Laurence Fox, consists of three 90-minute episodes. Since Inspector Lewis is a sequel series to Inspector Morse, Whately and Fox decided to retire from their roles after 33 episodes, as an homage to John Thaw, who played Chief Inspector Morse for 33 episodes.
In UK, the series is known simply as Lewis. Because PBS combined the second and third UK series into one season, the final season of Inspector Lewis on PBS is considered the eighth. In UK, Lewis, which has already concluded its ITV run, is considered a nine series (season) program. Through the years the cast of Inspector Lewis has featured Rebecca Front, Angela Griffin, Claire Holman, Jason Durr, and Steve Toussaint. The Inspector Lewis TV series finale is slated for Sunday, August 21 at 9:00pm ET. Check your local listings.

Will there be an “Inspector Hathaway” series coming? Please??
I, too, am very sad and sorry to see this most excellent show disappear from the air waves. From the acting individuals, stories, music, landscape down to the incredible direction and depth of the characters along with the lively and intellectual literary and historical gems of wisdom presented, I will miss it. It may be trite, but it’sbeen the best show ever. Thank you to everyone involved in the filming of this incredible series.
Please bring it back!
Would enjoy seeing much more of Inspector Lewis. Sorry to see that it has ended. A valuable program with superb actors and breathtaking scenery!
I would like to see it renewed
I am sad the Inspector Lewis is ending with Season 8. I have followed Inspector Lewis from Season 1 until the series final season. I will miss Lewis and Hathaway. Maybe Laurence Fox will do a spinoff even though Colin Dexter had passed.
Will miss the duo. Have rewatched the series 3 times. Maybe Laurence could do a spinoff? Any hope at all?
A great series….sorry to see it end for sure.
I am so disappointed to lose such a fantastic TV series! The casting was the best ever and I will miss them all. Lets hope James takes over..I really need something intelligent to watch!
How can I see the final episode; have been keeping up with it but lost the last viewing- a shame because it is so engaging!
