Josh Holloway enjoyed a long run on Lost but unfortunately he hasn’t been as lucky with Intelligence. The CBS TV show has now been cancelled after one season of 13 episodes.
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
After the failure of Hostages, the network was hoping for Intelligence to be a ratings hit to fill their Mondays at 10pm timeslot. It wasn’t to be. Despite some impressive star talent and special effects, the show couldn’t draw enough viewers.
The network debuted it after NCIS on a Tuesday night and the show drew decent numbers but, once it moved to its regular Monday night slot, the ratings tanked. The season of 13 episodes averaged a 1.3 demo rating with 6.85 million viewer, making it one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.
That wasn’t good enough to mandate a second season renewal so Intelligence has been cancelled. The final episode aired on March 31st.
What do you think? Did you like this Josh Holloway series? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?
Please put Intelligence back on I love the series, even when I happen to be in Nigeria
Renew pleaseeeee
Renew, renew, renew! I think the people who decide these things live in some kind of a bubble + these TV shows can’t even be legally purchased in some countries! Everyone is blaming piracy, i blame the content providers for not providing their content so that it can legally purchased (on computers now, and not on discs a year later)! Intelligence had some ‘bugs’ in it but it was definitely worth another season. Sometimes you have a good foundation to improve upon. Just look at Star Trek season 1, what if they would have stopped then? They stopped after 3… Read more »
Well said Teo
RENEW INTELLIGENCE. IT BEAT NIKITA ON THE TOP LIST OF MY FAVORITE TV SHOWS. THEY HAD TO CANCEL THAT TOO. THIS IS ALL JUST TOO FRUSTRATING. JUST WHEN EVERYTHING WAS STARTING TO FALL INTO THEIR RESPECTIVE PLACES… RENEW INTELLIGENCE!! THEY WATCH IT OVER THE INTERNET OR DOWNLOAD IT IN TORRENTS THAT’S WHY THE RATINGS AREN’T HIGH ENOUGH DIDN’T YOU EVER CONSIDER THAT?!
Please renew this show. It had incredible potential and the computer graphics were top notch. What were you thinking?
Renew it, please!!! My sister and I love this show!
Such a shame to see a fresh, original new show with completly different story to the other so called new ideas….. I would like to think that maybe another network may see what people really want to watch, a gripping, new idea and something different. Disappointed.
I liked this show hope they change their minds ……..
in total agreement! they should have renewed Intelligence. it is an interesting episode. hmmm. hope the writers and producers would consider the public’s opinion. ^_^
I agree – just when a show that isn’t full of ridiculous dialogue, stupid gags, or idiots trying to outdo each other on a “reality” show, gains a following from those of us who prefer to be entertained with some intelligence (no pun intended) it gets pulled. I rarely even look to the “Networks” for quality TV anymore – they just don’t get it.
One of the few shows that I did watch on CBS…Bad choice on there part!!!!
Just as I figured. When something worth watching comes on the idoits take off
Yeah agreed. It’s really worth watching and should be renewed. There’s a lot to expect from this show, why don’t they just give it another shot… the cast we’re great too.
It was a show that came in and then they played with its slot and they took a break for a bit. When you see a show one week and then it is off for three it is hard to stay following. The stories were good and had a lot of potential. I rather enjoyed the stories. The biggest problem I see now is the influx of other options. With Netflex and other streaming options, you are not going to see the numbers that you are looking for. The days when there was only four choices so you had this… Read more »
I agree – I DVR almost every show that I want to see so I can watch it when it is more convenient for me (during the day) or when there is nothing on in the evening that I wish to view. Also, I can bypass all the commercials that are mostly stupid and show no creativity, i.e. ED drugs.
Personally the show couldn’t distinguish what it wanted to be. Was it trying to be a police procedural, a spy show like Alias or a science fiction based drama like person of interest? And honestly being a fan of both, the interaction between Josh Holloway and Meghan Ory felt forced.
Exactly Dean.
really, i like this serial so much… i hope cbs rethougt about cancellation of this serial.. pleasr..
