Is Jane the Virgin on the verge of cancellation? According to SpoilerTV, The CW has cut down the episode order for the TV show’s upcoming fourth season.
The dramedy stars Gina Rodriguez as Jane, a young woman who ends up becoming pregnant thanks to being artificially inseminated by mistake. The cast also includes Justin Baldoni, Andrea Navedo, Yael Grobglas, Ivonne Coll, Jaime Camil, and Anthony Mendez (voice over).
SpoilerTV reports that the CW has lowered the episode count for season four ofJane the Virgin down from 21 to 17 episodes. While the network has not confirmed the cut, the news does seem a little odd. Typically, a lowered episode count means a series is ending or there is a scheduling conflict.
If the former, Jane the Virgin has been a steady ratings performer for The CW and doesn’t seem to be in trouble numbers-wise. Season three averaged a .35 rating in the 18-49 demo and 957,000 viewers.
Season four of Jane the Virgin debuts on The CW on October 13th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
What do you think? Do you watch Jane the Virgin? Do you think the show is on its way out?
How does one expect ratings NOT to be down when the show shifted to Friday…
Definitely, I will be watching all of season four and season five as well
Love this show! Do not cut!
I had no idea it was going to transmit but when i heard the promotion by Jane’s father in a radio show best actor in the world Jaime Camil i watched it now all my family loves it i would be really upset if it goes off air loove how the writers are unpredictable. Kisses to all the people that makes that show possible and the acting staff
JTV has been one of my favorites since its first show. I almost stopped watching when they had Michael die, I’m still very upset about that. So truly I don’t know if I’d be that upset if it ended.
I really hope that they don’t cancel this terrific family Show! I look forward to watching it every week !
I didn’t want to watch this show. The title alone suggested it would be dumb. But I was hooked instantly with the first episode, and have been a fan ever since! It’s sweet, funny, genuine, well-acted, beautifully written, just everything a family show could ask for. I sincerely hope the CW recognizes its value and gives this show all the respect and support it certainly has earned.
It’s a schedule thing. JTV will get a proper ending. I’m betting S5 will be the final season. 17 episodes should mean less filler. But the breaks. Jesus.
