Long-running syndicated court show Judge Alex has been cancelled. The cancellation was confirmed by Stephen Brown, executive VP of programming and development for the Fox Television Stations.
“We would like to thank Alex Ferrer as well as executive producer Kathy Sapp and the entire staff for producing a strong daytime court program,” said Brown in a statement. “Alex’s extensive police, legal and judicial experience combined with his great sense of humor made for compelling daytime television for nearly 10 years.”
Judge Alex debuted on September 12, 2005 and features cases that are presided over by Judge Alex E. Ferrer, a former police officer, lawyer, and Florida judge.
The series is the lowest-rated of the five remaining court shows and will continue airing original episodes through August.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Ferrer said, “It was not my decision to end the show. I enjoyed doing the show and would keep doing it but, for many reasons, the company that produces the show wanted to move on. I am grateful that I was able to work with really amazing people like my EP Kathy Sapp and Associate EP’s Tera Roberson and James Glover; Directors Eddie October, Michael Dimitch and Art Bergel; Bailiffs Mason Burroughs & Victor Simon, my makeup, hair and wardrobe help that changed me from hideous to tolerable; incredible producers and associate producers who found great cases for me to try and so many others in our 100 person staff and crew who made the show a success. I’m also grateful to have so many great fans and friends, many of whom I got to meet; and I’m sure that I’ll still get to meet more of you at other events.”
He also hinted that he may return to television at some point in the future.

Judge Alex was my favorite TV judge and I miss him every day. Can’t believe he was the lowest rated. He was smart, fair, clever without being rude, etc., etc. To my way of thinking, he set the standard that most of the others failed to follow.
I loved Judge Alex and miss him Mon-Fri every week. Has completely changed what station I watch. I watched about 30 seconds of Hot Bench and was turned off so I never looked at it again. It felt silly to me.
I always looked forward to Judge Alex’ show. He was non-abrasive, funny and smart, but he could put a person in his/her place if need be. I miss his show so much. You guys at the top made a stupid decision. Give the people what they want, and they want Judge Alex. Do your station a favor and bring him back.
One of the worst mistakes done by cancelling Judge Alex Ferrer. So nice to watch his show and him not ridiculing or insulting anyone. The replacements, all of them, have been awful and hopefully someone will wake up and bring Judge Alex back. What’s the old saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Totally loved this guy. Cannot believe he’s not being renewed. I watch his YouTube episodes; but will really miss new cases. Judge Alex is the only Judge I view.

Very sad that Judge Alex is no longer on. He was great, kind,nice,,cared, and very fair,. Hope he comesback,,I will not be watching the other Court shows,, not as good as Judge Alex,
Hot Bench runs cold for me. Fox screwed up canceling Judge Alex. Don’t get me started on the brilliant (sarcasm) renewal of Divorce Court. Where do they get those people?
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Judge Alex – so very sorry to see him go – would love for him to be back on – he was my second favorite, second only to the Queen of Judges, Judge Judy!!!
I enjoyed that email about Judge Judy being number one for you. She is also at the top of the list for me although I acknowledge all the complaints that others have against her. She is abrasive and feisty and sometimes rude ^0^ but most of the time the litigants deserve it. She certainly puts them in their place. I don’t always agree with her but I am always entertained and often educated on some point of the law. you took judge alex off and added that stupid 3-panel judge show hot bench???????? not a good decision and who the heck needs 3 judges to settle these little cases?????? take off divorce court – i hate that, too. 🙁
