Following on the heels of last week’s cancellations of the Happy Hour sitcom and The Rich List game show, FOX has announced that another of its new shows is leaving the air.
Justice debuted on Wednesday, August 30th to high expectations. The network had been showing fast-paced promos of the Victor Garber series all summer long but it still failed to attract big numbers. The highly anticipated premiere was watched by only 8.6 million viewers.
Justice followed a diverse group of lawyers as they worked at a prestigious Los Angeles law firm. Each episode started at the beginning of a trial and followed it through until the verdict. Then viewers were shown, via flashbacks, what actually happened at the time of the crime.
Like many FOX series, Justice took a break during the World Series (after five episodes). When it returned, FOX began airing it on Monday nights, opposite NBC’s popular Heroes and replacing Vanished (which was moved to Friday nights). Three episodes have aired on Monday nights. The most recent episode drew only 4.2 million households, about half of lead-in Prison Break’s audience.
With that in mind, its no surprise that FOX has announced that the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced courtroom drama has been pulled from the schedule effective immediately. The network isn’t calling it a cancellation right now. The FOX website lists that the show will return on December 11th, but the word is that it will not return for very long or at all.
Eight episodes of Justice have aired thus far and production is expected continue on the rest of the 13 episodes of FOX’s order. There is no word as yet if the series or any individual episodes will be released on DVD or online via FOX’s website.
11/17/06 UPDATE: FOX has officially cancelled Vanished and Justice will instead return on Friday, December 1st. No new word on how long it will continue to air.

It is getting HARDER to find INTELLIGENT shows!! Why TV continues to produce STUPID “reality” shows and ludicrous sit coms is anyone’s guess. Eventually, the only reason for me to OWN a TV would be to watch the nightly news and rented/purchased movies. Shame on you FOX!!!!
Do you people even read these comments?Do you even know how many fans loved that show and how many more Fox viewers you had and you losers lose them by droping Justice and Vanished? I loved Justice and now you lose another Fox veiwer. Some people were not even Fox viewer and until they found this magnificent show they became a Fox viewer and then you people canceled the only show they loved on Fox. Bring back Justice it was my favorite show !! You don’t want ot be like the network that cancelled Jag . The show ran on it’s new network for over 10 years!!!
This is by far the worst thing that Fox could have done this season. I Just found out that Justice was cancelled. I went to the network website to see when the next airing would be (since it was on so many different nights and with so much time in between) only to discover the show gone. I can not believe that they will continue to air garbage like Nanny 911 and Trading Spouses, and cancel an incredibly intelligent and dramatic show like Justice. I’m very dissappointed the way FOX moved Justice around and then cancelled it. I am Bummed – so much so first time I’ve done a post like this. Hopefully a smarter network will pick it up and give it the right promotion and time slot.
I cant believe it, is there no Justice. I turned on my TV all prepared to watch it and it wasnt there….. again.
I JUST CAME FROM LOOKING FOR JUSTICE ON FOX AND REALIZED ITS NOT ON. SO I CAME ONLINE TO MAKE SURE I GOT THE RIGHT NIGHT AND TIME, THEN I FOUND THIS WEBSITE. This really stinks! Justice is the best show Fox has. It’s stupid to move it around – I had a difficult time trying to locate it. Stupid marketing! Try airing after the world series next year if you have a show worthy. 24 wouldn’t survive if you did it like you did Justice. I guess your viewers don’t deserve any JUSTICE!
JUSTICE needs to stay on. Like other people have said before: How can you expect a show to have good rating when people don’t even know about it? I was very interested in this show even before it was broadcast. Good thing that I DVR this show because without it, I wouldn’t be able to find it!! They switched it to Monday and then Friday without telling any of the veiwers. Common sense people, how the heck do you expect more viewers when the show is moved around so much? I know this isn’t the same thing as writing a letter or signing a petition but Justice is the BEST! My mom and I just finished watching another great episode so I hope this counts as 2 votes! The tv is hardly on because there is nothing worth watching anymore. We finally found something great! WHAT HAPPENED?? BRING BACK JUSTICE!

Who decided to cancel Justice? Was it the same people that came up with “New Coke” a few years back. One of the few really intelligent new shows and Fox decides to cancel it. Does Fox really think the demographics of their viewers consists exclusively of morons? Finally, a show that requires the viewers to actually think about the story. It is well cast, marvelously written, and the reveal at the end of each story about the true nature of the crime is brilliant. A thinking persons show which is probably why it got cancled. Fox is about to lose one more viewer with the cancellation of ‘Justice’! I have never been a fan of the Fox network or watched it on any regular basis. They were beginning to win me over with “House” (although it’s been disappointing this season) and “Justice”. I was engrossed in the pilot episode and thought how awesome the show was. However, like some of the above comments, Fox plays with the schedule too much for me to figure out when those 2 shows are on.
